The 2nd round of rebate checks will go out June 1, 2022. This will be the final check.

The first phase of the rebate generated by the sale of HMEU was mailed to rate payers on February 24. The Phase One payout was the proceeds from the sale of the utility less expenses related to the transaction. The rebate to each rate payer was their pro-rated amount of the total billings paid in to HMEU from January 2019 through December 2021. Each rate payer was rebated approximately 60.7% of their total billings from the afore mentioned time frame.

The Phase Two rebate payment will be the remaining assets of the utility consisting mostly of cash on hand as well as proceeds from the sale of the HMEU building/equipment and is expected to be paid out summer/fall of this year.

Many of you probably know that the sale of Hudson Electric to MidAmerican has been finalized. There will be one more billing from HMEU on January 31st. You can pay in the same manner you always have. MidAmerican will now take over the day to day operations.

We're sorry to report that we have received word that one of our customers has received a call from a person who identified himself as one of our staff. He told our customer that they had an outstanding balance and that in order to avoid disconnection they could pay over the phone.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE know that we will not call and ask for your banking information over the phone! If you receive a call, let HMEU or the Hudson Police Department know.
