We are committed to our customers, and it is our goal to provide quality fire suppression, fire prevention, life safety, and property conservation to the To

wn of Hudson, the Town of Lochbuie, and the surrounding rural area. Station 1 in Hudson and Station 3 in Lochbuie are staffed around the clock, every day of the year. There are 3 firefighters at each station; giving the district 6 full-time paid firefighters at all times, day and night to respond to an emergency. From the time of dispatch to the time out the door to an emergency takes us 2 minutes, no matter the time the call comes in. This is the standard we maintain and practice. The 3 man firefighter crews work 48 hours on (2 days), and have 96 hours off (4 days); for a total of 3 shifts that rotate weekly. The average hourly work week for your firefighters is 56 hours a week. Firefighters live, sleep, eat, respond to calls, and train during their 2 day tour at their assigned firehouse. Station 2 houses additional equipment and apparatus and is not staffed. Please feel free to come by and visit with your firefighters! They would be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have about their careers and the district. Station 1 & Administrative Office

Hudson Fire Protection District currently has 21 paid employees: 1 fire chief, 1 training captain, 6 Lieutenants, 12 career firefighters, and 1 district administrator. There are also 15 volunteer firefighters, who supplement the career staff. The district is governed by a board of directors, and meet at station 1 on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. The meetings are open to the public and begin at 6:00pm. We could not do our jobs without the support of our citizens that live, work, and play in our district. Thank you for your support as we continue to fulfill the needs of our rapidly growing district! When not responding to calls for service, the career staff trains in fire, rescue, and medical curriculums. Your fire department also trains in fire investigations, water rescue, technical rescue, and fire prevention. This assures our customers are receiving the best their fire department has to offer. Hudson Fire is also responsible for annual fire inspections conducted on current businesses and new businesses throughout the district. We hope you enjoy your visit to our page! Please do not hesitate in reaching out to us. We're always happy to help you, and encourage your feedback so we can continue meeting the needs of your ever-changing fire protection district. If you would like further information about us, either stop by one of the stations or please visit our web page at: www.hudsonfirecolo.com

Thank you, and stay safe!

As our 2026 OPEN DOORS: Inside the Minds of Local Leaders Leadership Development Program comes to a close, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to this outstanding group of companies and organizations who served as our Presenting Hosts throughout the journey.

By quite literally “opening their doors,” these leaders provided participants with a rare behind-the-scenes look into the inner workings of their organizations, industries, leadership philosophies, and day-to-day operations. Their willingness to share their experiences, challenges, innovations, and insight created meaningful learning opportunities that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.

From municipal leadership and education to agriculture, healthcare, emergency services, energy, manufacturing, and community development, each host brought a unique perspective that helped shape and inspire the next generation of leaders in our region.

Programs like OPEN DOORS are successful because of community-minded organizations that believe in investing in people, collaboration, and the future of rural communities. We are deeply grateful for the time, knowledge, hospitality, and encouragement each host extended to our participants.

Together, we’re stronger. Together, we’ll make it.

**Registration for the Chamber's 2027 Leadership Development Program will open in November 2026. Announcements will be made on our page and the Chamber website, so stay tuned!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting the freedoms we enjoy will never be forgotten.

Memorial Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance of those heroes who gave their lives in defense of our country. We are forever indebted to their service and the sacrifices made by their families.

Hudson Fire Protection District is proud to have both current Reserve military members and retired veterans serving within our ranks. Their continued commitment to service, leadership, and sacrifice strengthens our organization and our community every day.

As you gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, please take a moment to remember those who gave everything for our nation.

From all of us at Hudson Fire Protection District, thank you to our fallen heroes, our veterans, our active-duty service members, and their families.

Yesterday, Hudson Fire Protection District hosted a large-scale multi-agency active assailant training exercise designed to strengthen our response capabilities during complex, high-risk emergencies.

These realistic training opportunities are critical to ensuring that firefighters, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, EMS personnel, and hospital partners can work together seamlessly when seconds matter most. Participating agencies included:
Hudson Fire Protection District

Lochbuie Police Department
Keenesburg Police Department
AirLife Denver

Additional support and participation were provided by:

Platte Valley Medical Center
UCHealth personnel and students, who served as simulated patients to help create realistic training scenarios

A special thank you to everyone who dedicated their time and expertise to make this exercise a success. The collaboration and professionalism displayed throughout the day demonstrate the strong partnerships that exist throughout our region.

Training together today helps ensure we are ready tomorrow when our communities need us most.

As many of us begin our spring cleaning projects, Hudson Fire Protection District has been receiving numerous questions about where to properly dispose of old household chemicals and hazardous materials such as paints, cleaners, gasoline, old fire extinguishers, and similar items.

Please note that Hudson Fire Protection District does not accept these items for disposal.

These materials can be safely disposed of through the Weld County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Center located at:

5500 State Hwy 52
Erie, CO 80516

For more information about accepted materials, hours of operation, and disposal requirements, please contact the facility directly at (970) 400-2233 or visit their website below:

https://www.weld.gov/Government/Departments/Health-and-Environment/Environmental-Health-Services/Household-Hazardous-Waste-Disposal

Proper disposal of hazardous materials helps protect our environment, sanitation workers, and emergency responders. Thank you for helping keep our community safe!

Weld County residents can dispose of household hazardous waste for free at one of two facilities operated by the county. The county also offers commercial hazardous waste disposal for Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQGs) in Weld County for a fee.

Weather Alert: Snow Expected Today & Tomorrow

We are forecasted to receive snow this afternoon into tomorrow, which may create hazardous road conditions. Please use caution if you must travel and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Safety Reminders:

-Drive slow and stay alert on slick roads

-Be prepared for possible power outages due to heavy, wet snow bringing down tree limbs and power lines

-Never approach downed power lines, always assume they are energized

-Use heaters safely as temperatures drop and keep them clear of combustibles and never leave them unattended

We are here if you need us. Stay safe and warm!

Please join us in welcoming Firefighter Andy Sims, who officially started his first shift with Hudson Fire today!

Andy had his badge pinned on this morning, marking the beginning of his career with our department. We look forward to celebrating this milestone again next month with a formal badge pinning ceremony alongside his family.

Andy brings valuable experience from his time as a volunteer firefighter, and we are excited to have him join our team and begin his service with our community.

Welcome aboard Andy! We’re glad to have you with us!

Two of our fire investigators recently attended an Oil & Gas Fire Investigations training hosted by the Colorado Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and taught by Chief Hedglin with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.

A big thank you to Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District for hosting this outstanding training at their facility!

With Weld County being one of the largest oil and gas producing counties in the country, this type of specialized training is incredibly valuable to our department and our community.

We are committed to continually improving our knowledge and skills to better serve and protect the public. Opportunities like this not only make us better investigators, but also allow us to connect and collaborate with our neighboring agencies.
