HUDSON CULTURAL COUNCIL SEEKS FUNDING PROPOSALS
Proposals for Community-Oriented Arts, Humanities, and Science Programs due October 15

The Hudson Cultural Council has set an October 15th deadline for organizations, schools, and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community. According to Council Co-Chairs Ellen Kisslinger and Patricia Luoto, these grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Hudson -- including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, or performances in schools, workshops, and lectures.

Some of this past year’s recipients include The Discovery Museums, Assabet Valley Camera Club, Hudson Division of Recreation, Symphony Pro Musica, Hudson Public Library, Sounds of Stow, Nashoba Friends of Music, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Hudson Public Schools, and River’s Edge Arts Alliance.

The Hudson Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

“From bringing music to our farmer’s markets to helping our students discover the power of their voices, the recipients of this year’s grants from the Hudson Cultural Council help to make Hudson a vibrant and inclusive place to live,” said Rep. Kate Hogan (D-Stow). “I am proud to have helped secure increased funding for the Massachusetts Cultural Council in the FY20 budget to continue supporting the leadership of all these local organizations that bring meaningful cultural opportunities to our towns.”

For local guidelines and information on the Hudson Cultural Council, contact the Council at 978-212-9706 or via email at [email protected]. If you have an interest in serving on this town-appointed board, please contact the Council.

Application forms and more information about the Local Cultural Council Program are available online at https://massculturalcouncil.org/communities/local-cultural-council-program/. Grant applications must be completed via the online process which will be available on September 1, 2019. All applications are due October 15, 2019.

Once an application is approved, the grantee should complete the project as outlined in their original application, acknowledge their funding from the LCC and MCC, advertise their project locally and then request reimbursement. Grant recipients have one year from the date of their approval letter to request reimbursement. Approval and denial letters will be communicated via email by the HCC. Should you have questions about the application process, contact the Hudson Cultural Council at the phone number or email address listed above.

The arts are not just a frivolous thing -- the arts put America to work and help bring the ideas and dreams of people to life. A thriving arts environment is essential to our communities and cutting arts funding would endanger artistic creativity that helps capture our history for the next generation.

The HCC is proud to have been able to support this project this year. Well done, The Discovery Museums!

We are honored and thrilled to be selected as a recipient of Massachusetts Cultural Council's 2017 Commonwealth Award, for Access!

Accessibility is a critical priority for our staff and Board, and we appreciate all the support we've received from our community of visitors, members, funders, advisors, our state legislators Jamie Eldridge, Cory Atkins and Jen Benson, and the town of Acton, Massachusetts that enabled us to open our fully-accessible nature playscape, Discovery Woods, last summer. It is wonderful to provide a fun, beautiful space for children of any ability to explore nature and play side-by-side.

We are proud to be an MCC-designated UP Organization, working with other arts and cultural organizations with a demonstrated commitment to learn, take action, and embrace inclusivity as a core organizational value.

The 2017 Commonwealth Award Recipients are an inspiring group! See the full MCC announcement here http://bit.ly/2hBzbA6
