Goodbye to 15 Broad Street

And the final piece of the building at 15 Broad Street was knocked to the ground late yesterday afternoon! J.R. Vinagro Corporation 's team of demolition experts moved at a fast clip while maintaining the safety of the adjacent structures in the immediate area. Their CAT operators displayed some serious skills! Special thanks to the surrounding neighborhood residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during this delicate operation. Here's the good news: the Rail Trail is now open, and Broad Street will be repoened by 4 pm today. We will continue to close the road completely between 7 am and 4 pm all next week to allow the contractor to continue hauling the debris from the site. Rotary Construction Update! This week construction crews will be working to finish the grading for the pouring of the sidewalk. During this time, you may notice that a few (not all!) of the beautification elements will be eliminated within the project areas that have an extremely narrow sidewalk width. With COVID-19 upon us for the very foreseeable future, It is important that restaurants in the vicinity of the Rotary have the opportunity for outside dinning. Furthermore, the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) and the Town worked very hard to develop outside dining regulations to keep our Downtown vibrant and bustling with people. We understand that the beautification elements incorporated into the project design resulted from significant feedback from the public during the many workshops held during 2016-2017. Don't worry, the project team is working with the BID to develop some seasonal "free-standing" beautification elements that could be located in these narrows areas. If you have any questions , or wish to offer feedback, please contact Planning Department staff at 978-562-2989.

Hudson Massachusetts Police Department

Hudson Police Department injecting a little Hump Day humor with an important message about social distancing. Thank you to all of our municipal frontline workers: emergency response, public safety, DPW, and Pubic Health for their tireless work during COVID-19.

Some of you may remember a video made by Reebok back in the early 2000’s, Terry Tate Office Linebacker. In an attempt to bring a little humor in these unsettling times, while reminding you to socially distance, officers of the department made this video in hopes of making you laugh. The video was edited by VOVI media and no officers were injured in making it

The Downtown Rotary Construction work has commenced as of April 10, 2020. Activities that have occurred include dig safing the site, installing erosion controls, survey work, and drilling test pits. It's important to note that the Contractor is required (and has certified in writing) that they must comply with Governor Baker's COVID-19 Construction Safety Measures. At any time, the Director of Public Works, Director of Public Health, and/or the Police Chief can issue a stop work order if compliance with these safety measures are not deemed satisfactory, or if the magnitude of the work precludes satisfactory compliance . The Construction team is monitoring progress on a weekly basis.

I paid excise tax back in April and they never received it. Then they send out a demand letter in July and I called several times and eft messages no response. Now I have a warrant letter. I called 8/11 no answer again and no call back. Today 8/12 I called and someone called back. The lady I spoke to today was very rude and not helpful. Then I spoke to Mr. Weagle and basically the same. They would waive any fees . Again I called several times and left messages with no help what do ever. They are useless.
A place to give feedback about the “New” rotary. Someone tried to play chicken with me yesterday coming from up Main while I was in the rotary. It was the same jerk stuff that jerks have been doing for 50 years that I know of. The new rotary shape had zero effect.
I heard from Black Earth today! It looks like we are close to getting enough people to get this started soon. If you are interested, I encourage you to preregister (no financial commitment). The more people we preregister the sooner we will have this great service. -For those interested in reducing waste, composting, and getting great compost for your own gardens; Black Earth Compost is already in Hudson for commercial composting! Lets work on bringing them here for residential composting. So much is compostable, they have a wonderful list on their site. Sign up to pre-register, no financial obligation! Help reduce our waste-
I noticed on the drawings of the rotary revamp (preliminary I know)but it didn't appear that the crosswalk by Hudson Public Library is going to be raised. This is one of if not the most dangerous crosswalks in Hudson, especially because it is often used by children and traffic streaming down Central often do not stop. I have stood in the crosswalk near the curb myself and waited while 3 or 4 cars whizzed by once a car coming in other direction stops they seem to wake up and stop. I am more concerned about groups of children not accompanied by an adult crossing that area. I hope this will be considered even if it is not a crosswalk technically in the area of the rotary redo. Thank you.
Is the concert at Cellucci Park at noon tomorrow, or a different time? (It was postponed from 7/16)
Just want to thank you for all the work and preparation you did for the rebuilding/closing of the Washington Street bridge. Your proactive communication approach was quite helpful. I was dreading the closure since I have to travel thru downtown multiple times a day. It's been a breeze! Thanks again Michael Tracey
Is there a general calendar online regarding the Washington Street Bridge project? When will the bridge itself be shut down for demolition, and expected date for it to be opened again?
