Tuesday, we presented the first ever Lieutenant Steve Gamble Legacy Award. The award was presented to Officer Kade Marlin. It’s a special award for us because Lt. Gamble meant so much to so many of us. Lt. Gamble passed away unexpectedly in 2021. Although we think of Lt. Gamble daily, this award is to make sure his legacy is remembered for years to come. We are grateful to have Lt. Gamble’s family in attendance to help present the award to Officer Marlin.

Officer Snodgrass was also presented with the Top Gun award for his work during fi****ms training. Congratulations to both officers.

🚨🚨Police Pursuit🚨🚨

Today, around 3:15pm, a Hueytown Police Officer observed a subject in the Walmart parking lot that he knew had multiple outstanding felony warrants. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle and the suspect fled from the officer. Officers pursued the suspect through Midfield, Brighton and eventually I-59S/I-20W through Bessemer. As the suspect entered Tuscaloosa County, the suspect exited the interstate at exit 100. The suspect attempted to enter the interstate again and lost control on the entrance ramp and wrecked. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody at that point. One Hueytown Police Officer suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released. The suspect was not injured and taken to the Hueytown City Jail where he awaits formal charges. We are thankful we were able to take this individual, who had no regard for anyone’s safety, into custody without serious injury. We will continue to do whatever is necessary to protect our community from those who think they can come here and commit crimes. We appreciate the Bessemer Police Department for their assistance.

🚧🚧7:56am UPDATE🚧🚧

Roadway is back OPEN.

Original Post:

6:00am

Allison Bonnett is CLOSED between High School Road and Cedar Lane due to a wreck involving power lines. Alabama Power is on scene making the repairs and we expect the road to be closed approximately TWO hours as they make those repairs. This will mean the road will be closed through morning rush hour. Please plan an alternate route and we will update with the road is open.

As temperatures drop overnight, certain roadways may become slippery due to black ice formation. If travel cannot be avoided later tonight, exercise extreme caution and allocate additional time for your trip. When commuting tomorrow morning, be prepared for potentially treacherous road conditions resulting from residual ice. Our officers and public works team will be working tirelessly to monitor and rectify any road-related issues. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 205-491-3523 with any concerns. Your safety remains our utmost priority, and we will work around the clock to ensure safe travel conditions.

Today, two of our newer officers graduated from the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy where they have spent the last 14 weeks training to be a certified police officer. There were many long days that have led up to this moment and we are proud of their accomplishments.

Please welcome Officer Goolsby and Officer Covin to our department. They will now begin a field training program that will give them on the job experience to better serve our citizens. Congratulations Officer Goolsby and Officer Covin, we are happy to have you on the team.

Sometimes police officers wear many hats. This evening our officers thought they would try their hands at being a cowboy. Fortunately, they were successful and able to corral these donkeys, and with the help of their owners, get them back home safely. No farm animals were harmed in this experiment and no, we are not starting a mounted divison.
