**ROADWAY IS OPEN**

The 1300 block of Virginia Road is blocked with a tree down across the road. This tree brought down power lines with it, please avoid the area.

VIRGINIA DRIVE 300 BLOCK HAS BEEN CLEARED.

Please be weather aware, due to strong winds trees are down all over the city. The 300 block of Virginia Drive is completely blocked due to a tree down, please avoid this area. If you can stay off the roads please do so until this weather passes.

In anticipation of Chick-fil-A Hueytown opening on Thursday, we anticipate a high volume of traffic in the area. Below is the traffic plan should Chick Fil A traffic back up into the roadway. Please be patient as it is their first day also. We will have officers directing traffic to ensure everyone is able to get in and out safely.

Traffic Plan

Chick Fil A patrons will need to go down Townhouse Lane, through the ALDI parking lot and exit the parking lot onto ABM and into the Chick Fil A turn in lane. When you are exiting Chick Fil A, you will only be able to turn RIGHT onto Allison Bonnett Memorial Drive. This is in an effort to make traffic flow smoothly and safely.

The Mayor and City Council would like to thank and honor the dedicated law enforcement officers of the Hueytown Police Department who put their lives on the line daily to protect our city.

With the threat of severe weather today, the storm shelter will open today at NOON and remain open until the threat passes.

City Hall will be closing at 1:00pm today. If you have court this afternoon, court is CANCELLED and you should come tomorrow at 2:00pm.

We are sad to announce the passing of retired Officer Jeff Hope. Officer Hope served the citizens of Hueytown for many years up until his retirement. Many officers looked up to Officer Hope for his professionalism and the way he treated everyone with respect. Officer Hope loved his job and loved serving the citizens of Hueytown. Jeff Hope passed away Monday, April 27th. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Tuesday, we presented the first ever Lieutenant Steve Gamble Legacy Award. The award was presented to Officer Kade Marlin. It’s a special award for us because Lt. Gamble meant so much to so many of us. Lt. Gamble passed away unexpectedly in 2021. Although we think of Lt. Gamble daily, this award is to make sure his legacy is remembered for years to come. We are grateful to have Lt. Gamble’s family in attendance to help present the award to Officer Marlin.

Officer Snodgrass was also presented with the Top Gun award for his work during fi****ms training. Congratulations to both officers.
