Were people opposed the 2022 School Bond invited to participate in the 2023 Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)? Did they help create the 2023 Bond?
ANSWER
Yes, community members opposed to the 2022 School Bond were invited and actively participated in the CAC, which ultimately proposed the 2023 School Bond.
In January 2023, Huffman ISD posted open invitations on the District's page and website asking community members to participate in the CAC. Invitations were also extended to other members of the community. The CAC convened in February and was composed of various district stakeholders, including teachers, campus staff, school leaders, parents, community members, students.
Over the course of several workshops, the CAC reviewed and analyzed findings including facilities assessments, demographic studies, financial forecasts, planning documents, and were presented with an overview from each campus administrator. Based on their thorough analysis, the CAC formulated a comprehensive school bond proposal, which addressed the pressing issues faced by Huffman ISD.
