Let’s go, Patriots! A HUGE congratulations to the Pittston Area baseball team and Coach Paul Zaffuto for winning the District 2 Class 5A baseball championship, defeating Dallas 7–4 in the title game.

This victory marks Pittston Area’s third straight title win, cementing their dominance in the division and setting up a strong state playoff run.

We would also like to congratulate the Coach on previously surpassing the 300-win milestone in his career at Pittston Area this season as well!

Slow down. Lives are on the line!

The numbers are sobering: in 2025 alone, Pennsylvania saw 1,393 work zone crashes resulting in 12 fatalities and 49 serious injuries. Since 1970, PennDOT has lost 93 workers in the line of duty.

That's why I was glad to see the Pennsylvania State Police and PennDOT once again partnering for “Operation Yellow Jacket” during the 2026 construction season to help keep workers and drivers safe in highway work zones.

This initiative places state troopers inside PennDOT vehicles in active work zones to monitor dangerous driving behaviors like speeding, distracted driving, and tailgating. If violations are spotted, marked patrol units can immediately respond and conduct traffic stops.

Every cone, vest, and flashing light represents someone working to improve our roads and return home safely to their family. Let’s all do our part: slow down, stay alert, and help protect our roadway workers.

Thank you to Education & Outreach Specialist Nora Haynos from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General for visiting the 118th District to lead an important online safety seminar at Pittston Area. Students and parents learned valuable information about cyberbullying, catfishing, digital footprints, sextortion scams, and staying safe on social media.

In today’s digital world, these conversations are more important than ever, and I was proud to help bring additional resources and support to families in the 118th district.

Since HB 1814, the “Bell to Bell” policy, passed the Senate in February, the topic of students using and possessing cell phones during the school day has become a major conversation across our communities.

I wanted to take the time to meet with educators and learn what steps local schools are already taking to improve student focus and classroom engagement. Thank you to the Wyoming Area School District, Dr. Jon Pollard, and Chief Alberigi for their valuable input and for taking the time to demonstrate how the Yondr pouch system works.

The annual Memorial Day Parade and ceremony in Dupont Boro, co-hosted by the VFW and AMVETS, serve as a poignant tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. This community has endured a significant loss of 57 men in the line of duty, and the town's annual reciting of the role call and bell ringing of the sons of Dupont is a solemn reminder of this. As your State Representative, I was proud to deliver remarks during the ceremony, representing a grateful State and Nation.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave servicemen and servicewomen who gave their lives in service to our country. Hughestown Boro's Hometown Heroes program, founded by Lynda Hoban, now Mayor of Hughestown, is a testament to this commitment. I was proud to deliver the keynote address at this year's memorial service.
Hughestown has thirteen son’s who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. God bless them.

We remain the land of the free because of the brave. Together, we salute you all this Memorial Day. Take a moment today to remember the ultimate sacrifice of the fallen who didn't come home. We carry their memory in our hearts today and always.
