City of Hugo

City of Hugo Hugo is a little city with a big heart and loads of history. Circus culture further distinguishes Hugo from any other city.

Just north of a major crossing between Texas and Oklahoma, Hugo also figures heavily into the history of American railroad culture — a legacy lovingly preserved at the historic Frisco Depot Museum. Three of America’s largest active circuses spend their winters in our mild climate while, nearby, the Endangered Ark Foundation operates the second largest Asian elephant sanctuary in the United States.

For the sportsman, Hugo offers beautiful Hugo Lake, a destination for bass and flathead fishermen. Skiiers and boaters need not be left out, as the 8,000 acres of open water offer plenty of room for all kinds of activities. Our greatest asset, however, is our people. Whether you're interested in a bite to eat at one of our locally owned restaurants or seeing the sites, you can be sure of a friendly smile and a helpful attitude wherever you go.
