The City of Hugoton has switched electric service to Pioneer Electric Cooperative.

If you are without electricity this morning, it may be because you have not yet signed up for an account with Pioneer Electric.

Please go to Pioneer Electric Cooperative at 400 NW Avenue or call 620-356-1211 to set up your account. Once your account is established, your electric service will be turned back on.

Please take care of this as soon as possible to avoid any further interruption in service.

DO NOT FLUSH WIPES!!

Even if the package says they are flushable wipes, they do not dissolve in the sewer main and causes the sewer to back up and clog.

Isn't the rain wonderful that we have received?

As a reminder, with Pioneer Electric Cooperative taking over the distribution of electricity on August 1st, City of Hugoton customers on their September bill will have the following:

Electric (reading dates July 15-Aug 1)
Water (reading dates July 15-Aug 15)
Sanitation
Sewer
Water Improvement

Pioneer Electric Cooperative will bill the electric service starting on August 1.

Starting in October, the city will only bill

Water
Sanitation
Sewer
Water Improvement

Make sure you have enrolled with Pioneer Electric Cooperative to avoid any disruption of services. They are located at 400 Northwest Avenue.

The City of Hugoton is aware of issues with the phone line. In talking with Pioneer Communications, any calls to or from a Verizon cell phone may experience a busy signal. If you are calling from a landline or another carrier, there seems to not be an issue. Stop by the office at 631 S Main if you are needing assistance.

There are 2 days left to make sure you are enrolled with Pioneer Electric Cooperative for your electric service before the switch on August 1st. Their office is located at 400 Northwest Avenue (on the angled street near the elevators).

You will still pay the City of Hugoton for services from:
June 15-July 15 due August 15
July 16-July 31 due September 15.

All other services will continue to be paid at the City:
Water
Sanitation
Sewer
Water Improvement

Pioneer Electric Cooperative has opened an office in town. You will need to set up your account for electricity with Pioneer Electric Cooperative BEFORE August 1.

You will still receive a bill for electric from the City of Hugoton
~ August (billing dates 06/15/2026-07/15/2026)
~September (billing dates 07/16/2026-08/01/2026)

You will continue to receive billing for water, sanitation, sewer and water improvement.

This is My first summer here in Kansas we have been having a blast here!
