Wagoner County Officials Declare Burn Ban for Wagoner County

The County Board of County Commissioners, under Section 16-26. B of Title 2 of the Oklahoma Statutes, proclaims that EXTREME FIRE DANGER exists in Wagoner County!

Please note:
It is unlawful to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop, or other wildlands, to build campfires, bonfires, or to burn trash.

Exceptions:
- Gas Grills
- Charcoal Grills/Smokers (must be attended, on a minimum 10'x10' concrete pad, with water available, and embers extinguished if moved)
- Welding (with a permit and standby water)

Law enforcement will enforce this resolution. Violators may face fines of up to $500 and imprisonment.

This ban is effective immediately for a period not exceeding 7 days and may be lifted under safer conditions.

Stay safe and help protect our community!

Signed this 23rd day of February 2026.

The Cherokee County Commissioners have enacted a 14-day county wide burn ban for all unnecessary outside burning. What this means: if you don’t have to burn it during this 14-day period, don’t burn it. Common sense will tell you whether you have to burn whatever “it” is or not.

Please be thoughtful and courteous, don’t take the risk, you may not just be putting yourself and your property in danger if you decide to violate the ban.
