PSA to our beloved community.
As many of you know, the Medical Foundation facilitated a landing pad at the Red Bluff Clinic for rotor aircraft. Due to our geographical location we use this helipad from time to time,(hopeful for not a lot of use). Sometimes the severity of a sickness or trauma indicates a need for a Level 2 or even Level 1 trauma center. For us, that means Rapid City, and time is of the essence! We are thankful for it as we use the airport for flights and in the winter it is a safety issue to drive to the airport.
What this has done has brought on onlookers and questions meesaged to our crew. The onlookers we can say nothing about as long as they do not interfere with our operations. To address the messaging to crew members asking who got the Lifeflight or what was wrong with that person, WE DO NOT ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS.
I get it! It is in the nature of the human to be curious. Sometimes it’s of genuine concern and sometimes malicious.
Just know that it is against the law for us to answer questions from people about patients. Even if it wasn’t, we love our community and that means we will have integrity and not share information. Every single one of us share that compassion, loyalty, and respect for our community. I can’t say don’t message the EMS crew and ask questions, but I can say that no matter which one of us is asked, they will go unanswered.
