🚨 CO Alarm Reminder! 🚨

The “Ber” months—September, October, November and December—aren’t far away, which means cooler weather and increased use of heating equipment are right around the corner. But don’t wait until fall to check your carbon monoxide (CO) alarms!

CO can be a threat year-round. Water heaters, furnaces, generators and other fuel-burning appliances can produce CO if they malfunction or aren’t properly vented.

🏠 Make sure you have CO alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.
🔋 Test your alarms regularly and replace batteries as needed.
📅 Check the age of your alarms and replace them according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Friendly reminder, no matter how late you are, or how slow an emergency vehicle is moving, it is illegal to pass said emergency vehicle if its emergency lights and siren are activated. You have absolutely no idea what kind of emergency situation you are traveling into. It could be a multiple vehicle accident with all lanes blocked. It could be a hazardous materials incident and you just traveled in to a deadly cloud of gas. Whatever the case, you being infront of the emergency vehicle is just one more vehicle in line that may delay the response time. Seconds count when it comes saving lives and property. See flashing lights, pull over to the right! Thank you.

Friendly reminder, on a 4 lane highway the left (inside) lane is for passing only. Once you have passed the vehicle in the right lane, return to the right lane when safe to do so. The only reason to be in the left lane if not passing is the fact that you have a left handed exit within half of a mile. This leaves the left hand lane clear for use of emergency vehicles such as police, fire, ambulance, and wrecker companies. Thank you.

🚌 Back-to-School Safety: School Bus Safety

As students head back to school, remember that safety starts before they even reach the classroom. Whether you’re driving, walking, or riding the bus, everyone has a role in keeping students safe.

🛑 Drivers: Slow down and stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Never pass a stopped school bus.

🚶 Students: Stay alert around buses, use sidewalks and crosswalks when available, and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before approaching.

🚌 Bus riders: Stay seated, keep aisles clear, keep hands and heads inside the bus, and follow the driver’s instructions.

Let’s make this school year a safe one for every student. Slow down, stay alert, and watch for school buses!
