🏠 Regional Housing Trust Fund – Northwest Iowa
HIDC wants to share an important housing resource available to homeowners in our region! The Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund is a nonprofit organization that helps low- to moderate-income homeowners with home repairs, energy efficiency improvements, and lead-based paint hazard reduction.
This program serves residents in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, and Sioux Counties and is designed to help create and preserve safe, affordable housing.
💰 Assistance Available Based on Income:
Households at or below 30% of Area Median Income (AMI):
✅ Eligible for a forgivable grant up to $12,500
✅ Maximum assistance of $12,500 per household
Households between 31% and 80% of AMI:
✅ Eligible for a combination of:
• Forgivable grant/loan up to $12,500
• Low-interest loan (2%) up to $25,000
➡️ Maximum total assistance of up to $37,500
Note: In this income category, at least two-thirds of the project cost must be covered by the low-interest loan before grant funds are applied. Applicants must have a credit score of 620 or higher to qualify for the loan portion.
Basic Requirements:
• Must own and occupy the home
• Must be current on mortgage, taxes, and utilities (must send in previous 2 tax statements)
• Income eligibility applies
• Two contractor quotes required
