๐Ÿ Celebrate World Bee Day at Mercer Botanic Gardens!๐Ÿ

Texas is home to more than 1,000 species of native bees, making our state one of the most diverse regions for pollinators in the country. These remarkable insects play a vital role in sustaining healthy ecosystems, supporting biodiversity, and pollinating many of the plants that feed and beautify our world. ๐ŸŒผ

You can help protect bees by adopting organic gardening practices, reducing pesticide use, and planting native flowers in your landscape. Visit Mercer to observe our native bee habitats and thriving urban honey bee colonies while discovering how pollinators contribute to a healthier environment for all. ๐Ÿฏ๐ŸŒฟ

Whether you are a gardener, nature enthusiast, or simply curious about the natural world, there is always something buzzing at Mercer. Look out for our next Beyond Bees program to learn more about native bees and beekeeping in July!๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ

๐ŸŒฟ Celebrate Endangered Species Day at Mercer Botanic Gardens! ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒพ

Discover some of the rare plants of Southeast Texas growing in Mercerโ€™s Endangered Species & Native Plant Garden.๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒผ

Visitors can observe endangered species such as Texas Prairie Dawn (Hymenoxys texana), Neches River Rose-mallow (Hibiscus dasycalyx), and Rough-stem Aster (Symphyotrichum puniceum var. scabricaule), and others - all of which face threats from habitat loss, invasive species, and environmental change. These native plants play an important role in supporting biodiversity and pollinator health across the Gulf Coast region. ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒผ

By protecting native habitats and incorporating native plants into our landscapes, we can help conserve the ecological heritage of Texas for future generations.๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š

We invite the public to visit Mercerโ€™s Endangered Species & Native Plant Garden to experience the beauty of these rare species and learn how conservation efforts can begin right at home. Just look for the green signs to locate and view an endangered species.๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒพ
