What better way to spend a beautiful Saturday morning than to run an MCI practice incident. No lives were lost during the event and our EMT students learned some valuable lessons in a non-emergent situation! The kids actually had fun, which is a bonus!

๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš‘ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš‘

Maren DeJonge is the most recently licensed member of Humboldt Rescue. Maren successfully completed the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course in January of 2022. After passing both the State of Nebraska Psychomotor Exam and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Cognitive Exam, Maren received her Nebraska EMR license in January of 2023. She has been an active member of Humboldt Rescue since.

Maren is married to Danny DeJonge. They live outside of Humboldt. They have four daughters; Elise (11) Halle (10), Scarlett (7), and Madilynn (6). Maren stays busy working as a crop insurance agent, farming with her husband, and raising their girls. Maren also owns and operates DeJongeโ€™s Fresh Farm, which grows and sells a variety of produce and flowers.

We appreciate Marenโ€™s dedication to Humboldt Rescue and to all those who reside within its service area. Thank you, Maren!

I feel that most of the members were glad to see February end. It was an extremely busy month for Humboldt Rescue. Volunteers responded to 22 incidents, of which 17 involved transportation to area hospitals. On two separate days in February, both ambulances were utilized due to back-to-back calls! Two calls were for lift assistance only, two calls were refusals of transport, and one call (for standby services at a structure fire) was canceled prior to arrival on scene.

January was a decent month for Humboldt Rescue. Volunteers responded to 8 incidents, seven of which involved transportation to area hospitals. One call was for standby services at a structure fire.

More exciting news! Three of our recently trained Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) passed their state skills testing on Saturday. Congratulations to Jennifer Anderson, Maren DeJonge, and Tim Fankhauser! They have one step left before being able to apply for state licensure, which is a computer based knowledge test. Hopefully, in the very near future Humboldt Rescue will have three new and active members!

Good things are happening at Humboldt Rescue! Cindy, Trent, and Danny have been working hard to create a space in the old hospital especially for EMS. It has been a process, but it is pretty well complete. Take a look and see how this room has been transformed!
