We had a great time attending Career Day at our local high school and speaking with students about the opportunities available in the utility industry! From engineering and linework to technology and customer service, it was exciting to share how many different career paths help keep our communities connected and powered every day.

We were also proud to talk about our new fiber internet project and how expanding high-speed connectivity will benefit local homes, businesses, and future generations. The future is bright, and we’re excited to invest in both our community and the next generation of leaders.

What is the definition of "excavation" or "digging" under the law?

“Excavation” under law covers a long list of activities, including the “…movement, placement, or removal of earth, rock, or other materials in or on the ground by use of mechanized equipment, discharge of explosives, or by hand digging…”

Don’t assume buried are deep. Ground conditions like rock, hard soil, slopes, and existing underground congestion can keep lines much closer to the surface, even inches below ground.

Plan ahead and contact 811 three working days before your project. Don’t risk fines, cost of utility repairs or worse- potential injuries and death from striking an underground line. Know what’s below!

This year consists of downtown, critical which includes all schools, hospitals, nursing homes, factories, churches and businesses. We will also do all rural gas main and services outside the city limits.
