Please be on the look out next week for our new garbage bins being delivered. Delivery will begin Monday morning and continue throughout the week. However, the cart service will not start until the week of 8/31/2026.

Have you heard about our new garbage system starting in September?!

Last week we sent out a letter explaining our new rates and system starting early September. Haven't seen it yet? THATS OK! It should show up in the next few days. IF you do not receive one we have extra sign up sheets at City Hall.

If you don't know what bin to get we have examples down at City Hall of what the bin sizes will be.

Reminder of the City of Humboldt Ordinance for Fireworks:
They are permitted on July 3rd & 4th ONLY. Fireworks are only permitted to be discharged on private property. No fireworks shall be discharge on public property or within 500 feet of the Humboldt County Fair grounds or the Independence Parade.

City of Humboldt Right-of-Way Tree Inventory and Removal Program – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

In 2023, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources provided funding to the City of Humboldt to complete an Urban Forestry Management Plan, which included an inventory of all trees within City right-of-way (ROW). Humboldt has utilized this plan as a way to identify, prioritize, and remove dead trees within City property.

Humboldt has approximately 2,800 trees on City property and is actively working to remove the trees in poor condition as well as ash trees infected with the Emerald Ash Boer.

The City conducts an annual tree removal project based on available funding. For the upcoming fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) the City allocated $100,000 for this project.
