‼️LATEST UPDATE: THE TORNADO THREAT EXPANDED with TODAYS SEVERE WEATHER THREAT remaining on track for Very Large Hail 🧊 greater than 2”, Damaging Winds 💨, and Tornadoes 🌪️ (up to EF2 strength)
Severe storms are expected this afternoon into this evening from the Southern Plains to the Great Lakes, with key areas across Iowa into Missouri and southwest Missouri into Oklahoma and north Texas.
➡️ PRIMARY THREATS ARE:
🧊 LARGE TO VERY LARGE HAIL POSSIBLE: Supercells may produce large to very large hail, especially early.
💨 DAMAGING WINDS POSSIBLE: Storms may grow upscale into the evening with an increasing wind threat.
🌪️ TORNADOES POSSIBLE: A couple tornadoes will be possible, especially across Iowa into northern Missouri. There is a tornado risk from Southwest Missouri into Oklahoma.
➡️ WHAT TO EXPECT TIMEFRAME:
• Afternoon (2–4 PM CDT): Storms develop across IA into MO and along the dryline from OK into north TX
• Late Afternoon – Evening: Supercells capable of hail, wind, and a tornado or two
• Evening: Storms grow upscale with increasing wind threat

Across Iowa into northern Missouri, storms may develop along a composite outflow, with very large hail and perhaps some tornado risk.
Across southwest Missouri into Oklahoma and north Texas, storms will develop along the dryline with all hazards possible early before storms organize.
Farther east into the Great Lakes and Northeast, storms may redevelop with a primary wind threat, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
