Apparently there is false information being put out to the community. Allow us to dispel it.
While we have signed an agreement with ICE, the agreement was signed to allow us access to valuable training. This training educates us in how to better interact with the migrant community not only locally but also across the state, while we are working or serving warrants. This agreement not only provides us with training but allows us to interact and better work along side our law enforcement partners while we are doing our jobs. This training will also allow us to better help those in need by providing them with resources to take the appropriate steps to citizenship.
This post also makes a false claim against our Explosive Detection K9, K9 Zhukov. As with any pet dog or K9 you interact with or see, it is ALWAYS necessary to ask the owner or handler FIRST before approaching. ALWAYS listen to the owner or handler of any dog, especially a trained K9. K9 Zhukov is certified yearly in obedience through a national certifying body. K9 Zhukov and I EXCEED the Act 60 Police Standard for K9s every year, by not only achieving this cert but also holding multiple national certifications in Explosive Detection. K9 Zhukov also has the honor of serving this community, state, and country, by being trained in Mobile Odor. K9 Zhukov's calm demeanor and obedience ensures he is selected for crowded venues, concerts, fairs, music festivals and multiple NFL, NBA and MLB games throughout the year and throughout the country. K9 Zhukov's extensive resume of finding weapons, passing blind tests, and working through crowded venues with major distractions is a testimony to his training and certifications. Our newest addition, who has not yet hit the streets, K9 Ra, is also undergoing the same scrutiny and training that K9 Zhukov undergoes. We do allow the public to join us in our training. Should you wish to join us and meet K9 Zhukov, or even meet our Narcotics K9, K9 Ra, please reach out by sending us a message or even calling us. Our K9's always love to interact with the public and love to do community events throughout the year. K9 Zhukov especially loves doing his Christmas Toy and Pet drive for needy families and pets during the holidays. This Derry Township Constables Office strives to be transparent with the community we serve and call home. The Office of Constable is the oldest form of Law Enforcement in the country. We are our own separate entity and do not fall under any police dept. Constables have statewide jurisdiction and can serve warrants or make arrests anywhere within the commonwealth. All of the training we receive we have to do with our own funds. Constables do not take any of tax payer funds. This Constables Office attends and takes as many courses as possible each year. Some of these courses and conferences include K9 behavior, K9 health, terrorist studies and methodologies used, explosive studies as well as law enforcement courses. Each year Constables save the commonwealth millions by bringing in revenue from fines and fees. Constables also keep our communities safe by searching for and bringing fugitives to justice. If you have any questions or wish to meet our wonderful K9's please feel free to reach out.
