Hello everyone. For all those faithful followers of the Annual Pancake Day; fear not, the day is approaching. The great committtee for Troop 896 has been working feverishly to make the annual event as spectacular as always. The date for the event is going to be the 17th of March, yes St Patricks Day. If you ask Scout Master Norris, he may be able to whip you up a special stack of pancakes. Please come help support these young men from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, as they raise money and fill your belly for some of the best pancakes and sausage this side of the Mississippi. I guarentee not one person can say they ever go away hungry from the Pancake Breakfast.

Friday, January 27th the troop set out for their campout at Caesar Creek State Park. With temperatures dipping in the teens, this was the coldest campout the troop as had on record. At camp the troop worked hard on their Wildness Survival as well as hiking skills. Saturday afternoon the troop paid a visit to the Nature Center where we learned a lot about birds and the skeletal study of animals. The campout would not have been complete with a great game of Bocce ball. The red team and black team fought hard and end the end came down to a tie so everyone could eat. Speaking of eating, the troop got a special visitor Saturday evening. Assistant Scoutmaster Bryant came out after work to enjoy the meals in all four dutch ovens. Over all a great camp to all. A special thanks from the troop to Quartermaster Whitt for bringing the trailer and picking it up.

The troop would like to say "Thank You" to our Chartereing Organization, Hope United Methodist Church and a sponser of Troop 896, the Failful Men. The men donated $250.00 to purchase a new Eureka tent. The tents are a much needed improvment over the tents the troop currently has. With out this great group of men and church the troop would not have the opportunity to do some of what they want.

Friday Troop 896 began there weekend camp out for the John Colter Race to be held on Saturday. The troop wishes to say "Thank You" to Troop 572 from Middletown, Ohio for being such a great host for the events over the weekend. While many of the young men had run in the race before they all said they believe this was the best John Colter they had attended. All in all over 45 young men (including Webelos) participated in the events Saturday afternoon. As the evening approached and the campfire program began, Troop 896 acted out the great icecream skit. I have to say they did a wonderful job. Once all the skits were finished and awards handed out, the young men from Troop 896 once again should great respect to the American Flag. All adult leadership from Troop 896 were extremly proud of how the young men conducted the ceremony to retire some American flags. What a Great Honor and Privilege! Over all, great camp and many thanks to our sister troop 572.

Friday September 23rd, troop 896 departed for the great Ceaser Creek State Park nestled in Warren County. The park provides a very nice spot for the troop to camp each time allowing the boys to spread out with the tents. Speaking of tents, the newest addition to the troop got put up this weekend. With the blessing of the troop committee, the troop purchased the first of hopefully many Eureka Grand Manan tents. These tent are an actual three season tent and stay very warm. While at camp, the troop visited the Pioneer Village Saturday for a Civil War reenactment. Wow, what a show with the large cannon and muskets being fired. The Confederates won this particular battle. The Troop stayed busy Saturday afternoon erecting a fabulous gate structure that they displayed the US, State and Troop flags from. When it was all said and done Scout Master Norris arrived at camp to see a complete gate with turn style entry and a fence to block all parties from entering. Great job to the young men in the preparation and completion of the gate. As Saturday even continued, Scout Master Norris dazzled everyone once again with another great dutch oven dump cake. Overall great camp out for the young men of troop 896 and a special "Thank You" to the Ceaser Creek parks division for another great experience for camp.
