๐Ÿšฆ๐Ÿ“š We had a great time this week visiting Forrestal Academy for a Summer Safety Talk with some outstanding students!

During our visit, the kids learned about road signs and why they play such an important role in keeping drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists safe. Whether walking, riding, or traveling in a vehicle, understanding the rules of the road helps everyone make safer choices and contributes to a stronger, safer community. ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿšธ

If your summer camp, youth program, or community group would like Huntersville Police officers to stop by for a visit, participate in a safety presentation, or take part in a community engagement event, contact Officer Matthew Choice at [email protected].

Sometimes, when youโ€™ve had a rough day, the only thing you really need is a hug.

Law enforcement runs on teamwork, trust, and a healthy dose of humor. Looking out for each other isn't just part of the job. It's part of getting through the day.

And we know that's a concept plenty of you can identify with. So check in on your people. A few minutes of encouragement, a shared laugh, or even a slightly awkward hug can make more of a difference than you realize! ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ‘”๐Ÿ’™ Today, we celebrate the dads, stepdads, grandfathers and father figures who help shape our community through their love, guidance and sacrifice.

A special Father's Day thank-you goes out to the fathers serving with the Huntersville Police Department and in law enforcement everywhere. Whether you're protecting your family at home or serving others while wearing the badge, your dedication does not go unnoticed. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿš“

We hope all of the dads in our community enjoy a well-deserved day filled with family, laughter and great memories. Happy Fatherโ€™s Day! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

Our first week of Safety Town is in the books, and what a great week it was! ๐Ÿšฆ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿซ

This popular four-day program helps children entering kindergarten learn important safety lessons on topics such as bicycles, buses, fires, strangers, pedestrians, playgrounds, poison, traffic safety, and more. Participants then put those lessons into practice in our child-sized town complete with tricycles, crosswalks, colorful buildings, street signs, and even a working traffic light!๐Ÿšธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

All remaining Safety Town sessions for this summer are fully booked, but parents interested in next year's program can register for our 2027 sessions beginning next May.

For more information, visit huntersville.org/643/Safety-Town.

You may have noticed some new faces responding to traffic-related calls around Huntersville. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿš—

We recently launched our new Civilian Crash Investigation Unit, made up of four full-time, civilian employees. In addition to handling parking enforcement and assisting with traffic control, these specially trained professionals can investigate property-damage crashes, parking lot collisions, minor-injury crashes with no suspected criminal violations, and similar incidents.

By taking these calls, our civilian crash investigators help free up sworn officers to respond to higher-priority emergencies, while allowing us to maintain the high level of service our community expects. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš”

Check out the video to learn more about this important new addition to HPD!

On Sunday, June 14, at approximately 1:11 a.m., Huntersville Police Officer Anderson and K-9 Officer Noonan stopped a white Jeep for running a red light at the intersection of Old Statesville and Eastfield roads.

The traffic stop was made along Hambright Road, and the Jeep was among an abnormally high number of vehicles in the area at the time. During questioning, the driver of the Jeep stated to officers that he was heading toward a planned street takeover event in a nearby parking lot. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police ultimately assisted Huntersville Police in dispersing more than 300 vehicles from that parking lot, at a warehouse on the 11000 block of Everett Keith Road.

During an ensuing search of the Jeep, HPD officers seized a large-caliber concealed rifle and approximately one ounce of ma*****na.

The suspect, 24-year-old Ali Amadou Diop, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, driving with a revoked license, and a red light violation.

The proactive work of our officers in this case resulted in a dangerous firearm being removed from our community.

With the 2025-26 school year recently wrapping up, we want to offer a huge โ€˜thank-youโ€™ to our nine School Resource Officers for their incredible work. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ’™

Serving as an SRO is one of the most challenging and underrated assignments in our department. On any given day, they may be called upon to be a law enforcement officer, mentor, counselor, mediator, educator, role model, or simply a trusted adult who is there to listen. That level of versatility requires tremendous emotional intelligence, patience, professionalism, and the ability to connect with students at every stage of development.

Thank you for the positive impact you make in our schools and in the lives of countless students, staff members, and families. We appreciate all you do! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽโœจ
