🚧 Traffic Update 🚧

Please be advised that a new 4-way intersection is now in place at Washington Center Road and O’Day Road. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, pay attention to new traffic patterns and signage, and use extra caution while traveling through the area.

The Allen County Highway Department informs motorists of a changing traffic pattern on the west side of the county. Beginning June 3, 2026, Washington Center Road will stop for O'Day Road, turning the intersection into an All-Way Stop.

Remember, “first to arrive, first to go” means the vehicle that arrives and stops first at the intersection has the right-of-way. Always yield to pedestrians.

This week, all three shifts are training on low angle rope rescue as part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational readiness and emergency response capabilities.

The hands-on training focused on rope systems, patient packaging, rescue techniques, and coordinated operations in low angle environments. Crews worked through multiple practical scenarios designed to strengthen teamwork, safety, and technical proficiency.

This department-wide training ensures personnel continue to remain prepared to respond effectively to emergencies involving difficult terrain, embankments, and rescue situations requiring specialized rope operations.

This week, we proudly recognize and celebrate National EMS Week—a time dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve on the front lines of emergency medical care.

For 70 years, our district has been committed to providing EMS service to the citizens of Northwest Allen County. Today, that commitment continues stronger than ever, with three paramedic ambulances staffed 24/7, delivering some of the highest quality care in our region.

As you look through the photos in this post—from our first hearse ambulance to our most recent state-of-the-art unit—it’s a powerful reminder of just how far we’ve come. Not only in the technology we use, but in the skills, training, and level of care we provide to our community every single day.

But behind the numbers and the progress are people.

The men and women of our EMS division answer the call—day and night—stepping into situations most would never want to face. They meet people on their worst days, in their most vulnerable moments, and bring not only skill and professionalism, but compassion, reassurance, and hope.

This work is not easy. It requires sacrifice, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to others. And it does not go unnoticed.

To our paramedics and EMTs:
Thank you for what you do, for who you are, and for the difference you make every single day.

Please join us in recognizing and thanking these incredible professionals during National EMS Week.
