Yesterday evening, the Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Centre County to represent our office in the 2026 Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Over the last three days, the torch has traveled from Pittsburgh to State College, carried by members of law enforcement agencies from across the Commonwealth. The final leg of the run will be held on June 4, when the torch arrives at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, the site of the 2026 Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games. During the final leg, the torch will be escorted by Class 74 of the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Academy.

The Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Office greatly appreciates the opportunity to participate in this event, and we wish all athletes, volunteers, and attendees a wonderful time at the 2026 Special Olympics.

Today we recognize International Firefighters’ Day.

Thank you to the countless volunteers who serve our community with courage and dedication every day.

Some of our own deputies volunteer with local departments in their free time, showing exemplary dedication to public safety within our county that extends beyond their law enforcement duties.

We appreciate all you do!

On March 23, 2026, at approximately 1420 hours, the Huntingdon Borough Police Department responded to the 400 block of Washington Street for a report of an attempted stabbing.

Upon arrival, the suspect was identified as Kenneth Dale Parks, Jr. Through the investigation, officers obtained video footage recorded by witnesses, as well as surveillance footage from surrounding buildings. The footage provided officers with a clear view of the events that unfolded. Parks was observed in the video brandishing and waving/slashing a knife as he charged at the victim. Parks is overheard making threats. Parks fled when witnesses stated they were calling the police.

A felony arrest warrant was obtained, and a multi-hour manhunt for Parks was conducted with the assistance of the Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Office. During the search, an informational tip was received regarding a residence where Parks was possibly hiding. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a resident who was not cooperative. Officers maintained a heavy presence in the area. Officers later observed Parks leaving the area of the residence. As officers approached, Parks attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Parks was lodged in the Huntingdon County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.

Officer Conrad was the lead investigator for this incident.

The Huntingdon Borough Police Department would like to personally thank the Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this incident.
