🫧🎶 Our Preschool Discovery Campers got the surprise of the summer with a DJ-led foam dance party to celebrate an incredible season of exploration, creativity, and new friendships. From Insect Week to Jungle Adventures, these little learners spent the summer discovering, imagining, and growing, and they danced their way into the last day in the best way possible: covered in bubbles and full of joy!

A huge thank-you to our amazing camp staff for creating a summer full of magic moments (and for planning the best surprise send-off yet) 💙

From creepy crawlies to farmyard friends to starlit campfires, our Preschool Discovery Camp crew is having the summer of a lifetime! 🐞🐷🔥

Over the past few weeks, our campers have:�
🔍 Investigated the amazing world of insects�
🐔 Met all kinds of farm animals�
🏕️ Camped out with songs, stories, and s'more smiles than we can count

Every week has brought new discoveries, new friendships, and new reasons to love learning. Thank you to our incredible preschool staff for making it all so joyful! 💛

☀️ And just like that, another Extended School Year has come to a close! Looking back, this summer was full of incredible moments: students building new skills, making friends, and diving into engaging activities, all thanks to the passion and dedication of our ESY staff.

ESY is a powerful reminder that learning never takes a break at HBCSD, and neither does our commitment to supporting every student. We're so proud of everything our students accomplished this summer. Thank you to our staff and community for pouring your hearts into these weeks. 💙

📣 Sowers Middle School has a new Assistant Principal!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Ammie Ibarra to the family as the new Assistant Principal of Sowers Middle School!

Dr. Ibarra brings 20 years of public education experience, including a deep background in middle school instruction, student activities, and positive school culture. Her leadership in positive behavioral supports and dedication to students and families make her a wonderful addition to the Viking community!❤️🖤

Dr. Ibarra will step into her new role for the start of the 2026–2027 school year. Welcome to Sowers, Dr. Ibarra!

🌴 It's a JUNGLE out there! 🐍

Week 2 of Summer Discovery Camp took our little explorers deep into Jungle Week, and it did NOT disappoint! 🌿

🐢 A traveling visit from Prehistoric Pets brought snakes, turtles, and reptiles right into camp, and our preschoolers got up close (and hands-on!) to pet and learn about these cool creatures�🎨 Jungle-themed crafts and paintings brought out everyone's inner artist�🔍 Scavenger hunts had campers exploring every corner�🧸 Jungle toys and activities kept the adventure going all week long

Another week of curiosity, courage, and camp memories in the books! 🙌 Stay tuned, there's much more summer fun ahead! ☀️

☀️ Welcome to summer, style! Our Extended School Year program launched this week, and the energy was contagious.

Students dove into engaging activities designed to keep learning fun and momentum strong, while our dedicated staff brought the same passion and care from the regular school year right into the summer.

None of this happens without the team behind the scenes: our student services staff supporting every learner's needs, custodial and operations teams making sure classrooms and campuses are ready to go, transportation getting students safely to and from ESY each day, and our food & nutrition services team making sure every student is fueled and ready to learn. Thank you for making summer learning possible! 🚌💙

ESY is one more way HBCSD supports every student's growth year-round because learning doesn't take a summer break, and neither does our commitment to a supportive school environment. Here's to an incredible few weeks ahead! ☀️📚

📣 Hawes Elementary has a new principal!

We are excited to welcome Ms. Vanessa Freedman to the family as the new principal of Hawes Elementary School! Ms. Freedman brings more than 20 years of experience in public education. Her instructional leadership, focus on school culture and safety, and dedication to students and families make her a wonderful addition to the Hawk community. 💛💚

Ms. Freedman will assume her new role at the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

School's out, but the work is just getting started across ! 🚧

In just the first week of summer, construction crews broke ground on an upgrade of the Eader Elementary parking lot and driveway, and demo is already underway. It might look like a construction zone now, but this project is paving the way (literally!) for a safer, smoother drop-off and pick-up experience for our Eagle families.🏗️💛

None of this happens without our amazing 12-month staff teams, who keep HBCSD campuses running, maintained, and ready all year long, including these busy summer months. We're so grateful for their hard work behind the scenes! 👏
