The last week of school is here, and we're kicking it off with so much excitement and happiness as promotions and celebrations are underway across ! πŸŽ‰

Big feelings, even bigger futures. 🌟

Our littlest learners are officially moving up, from preschool to TK and Kindergarten! It's the first of many promotions to come, and we couldn't be more proud of these shining stars. Here's to what's next! ✨

β˜•βœ¨ Something special is brewing at Sowers Middle School!

The Sowers Snack Store has been serving up more than just coffee and snacks, it's been serving up real-world skills, confidence, and community. πŸ™Œ

Students in the Sowers Special Needs program have been running their very own snack store and coffee cart all year long, taking orders, preparing drinks, managing deliveries, and greeting customers like the total pros they are.

πŸ·οΈπŸ›’ This year, the program leveled up in the best way, welcoming general education peers to work side by side with their classmates, building friendships and breaking down barriers one cup of iced coffee at a time. πŸ’›

And to cap off an incredible year? The Sowers Café, a culminating dine-in experience where families and Assistance League of Huntington Beach volunteers were invited to be served by students themselves. The ALHB has been an incredible partner, helping fund this program through their generous grants and making it all possible. 🀍

To Ms. Chung and Ms. Ridenour, every student in that red apron, and every peer who showed up to be part of something bigger, thank you for showing our community what inclusion really looks like. πŸ‘

πŸŒŠπŸ’™ June Shoreline Standouts

We’re closing out the inaugural year of the Shoreline Standouts program by celebrating three incredible HBCSD team members whose dedication and care make a lasting impact across our District.

✨ Blake Silvaggio, Human Resources
✨ Dennis Bond, Sowers Middle School
✨ Melanee Chapman, Sowers Middle School

From supporting staff with dependability and heart in HR, to building a love of literature and writing, to creating a safe and caring space for every student who walks through the health office door, these Shoreline Standouts exemplify dedication, compassion, and Purpose in Action every day.

Please join us in congratulating our June Shoreline Standouts and in celebrating a full year of recognizing the remarkable people who make HBCSD shine. πŸ’™

πŸšŒπŸ’™ Congratulations to Transportation Supervisor Angelina Esquivel Rico!

We are proud to share that Angelina has completed the California Department of Education's Instructor Certification Course and is now a State Certified Trainer, a distinction held by very few professionals across the state.

This is a tremendous achievement and a meaningful investment in the future of our Transportation program and in the safety of every student who rides an HBCSD bus. We are so proud of you, Angelina! ⭐️

πŸŒ… 331 years. Countless students. One unforgettable legacy.

This year, we say a heartfelt farewell to 15 extraordinary members of the family: educators, paraeducators, librarians, technicians, and support staff who dedicated decades of their lives to our students, schools, and community.

They are teachers who turned math into magic ✏️, paraeducators who showed up every day with patience and care πŸ’›, librarians who found their calling between the shelves πŸ“š, and tech support who helped keep everything running πŸ’».

To our 2025–26 retirees: thank you for everything you've poured into this community. Your legacy lives on in every student you supported, every family you welcomed, and every colleague you inspired. ✨

We wish you blue skies, warm days, and golden horizons ahead. πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

Once a Hawes Hawk, always a Hawes Hawk. πŸŽ“πŸ’šπŸ’›

Our seniors came back in caps and gowns this week for our beloved annual photo tradition, gathering in front of the Hawes signs just like old times. Reunions with former teachers, big hugs, bigger dreams, and all the memories that started right here.

We couldn't be more proud. Fly high, Class of 2026! ✨
