Before anyone asks, no, we're not filming a home renovation show.

As Heil Fire Station undergoes emergency infrastructure repairs, Engine 48's crew has temporarily moved into a small trailer located alongside the station. For the next several weeks, this will serve as home base for living, sleeping, training, and all the day-to-day activities that keep firefighters ready to respond.

The good news is that Engine 48 remains housed in the apparatus bay and fully operational, allowing crews to continue responding to emergencies without interruption.

While the living arrangements may be a little smaller than usual, our firefighters remain focused on providing the same level of service to the Huntington Beach community.

We appreciate everyone's patience as these important repairs are completed and look forward to moving back into the station soon.

As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, members of the Huntington Beach Fire Department will proudly wear special commemorative America 250 badges throughout the coming year.

These badges serve as a tribute to 250 years of American history, service, sacrifice, and the enduring values that have shaped our nation since 1776. The custom design incorporates patriotic elements alongside symbols representing the Huntington Beach community and the fire service.

We are honored to participate in this historic milestone and look forward to joining our community in celebrating America's 250th birthday.

This evening, Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel responded to a four vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Newland Street and Ellis Avenue.

Paramedics quickly assessed and treated multiple patients at the scene. A total of five patients were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and treatment.

Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel are currently on scene of a hazardous materials incident at the Central Library.

At this time, two patients have been evaluated by paramedics. One patient was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, while a second patient was evaluated and released at the scene.

Firefighters and hazardous materials personnel are working to identify the substance involved, assess any potential hazards, and ensure the safety of the community.

This week, members of the Huntington Beach Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Team conducted training with local businesses throughout the community to strengthen pre incident planning and hazard mitigation efforts.

These collaborative trainings allow our HazMat personnel to identify potential hazards, review facility operations, and work directly with business representatives to develop strategies that reduce risk and improve emergency response capabilities. By understanding the unique materials and processes present at these facilities before an emergency occurs, firefighters can make informed decisions that help protect employees, nearby residents, responding personnel, and the environment.

Partnerships with local businesses are a critical component of community risk reduction and preparedness. We appreciate the cooperation and commitment of the businesses that participated in this training and share our goal of keeping Huntington Beach safe.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, a time to recognize the millions of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

As firefighters, paramedics, and community members, we regularly interact with residents and caregivers navigating the challenges that memory loss and cognitive decline can bring. We understand that Alzheimer's affects not only the individual, but also the loved ones who provide care, support, and companionship every day.

This month, we encourage our community to learn more about Alzheimer's disease, support those impacted by it, and help foster understanding and compassion for individuals living with dementia.

Together, we can build a community where those affected by Alzheimer's feel supported, respected, and never alone.

Yesterday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m., Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel responded to a commercial structure fire in the 7400 block of Belva Drive.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from multiple roll up doors of the commercial building. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack, utilizing forcible entry techniques to gain access to the structure while deploying exterior hose lines to begin suppressing the fire.

Through a coordinated effort, firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent further extension within the building. Crews remained on scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations and ensuring all remaining hotspots were extinguished.

There were no reported civilian injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Last week, the Huntington Beach Fire Department proudly celebrated the graduation of six new Firefighter Paramedics as they completed their recruit academy training and officially joined the ranks of HBFD.

Over the course of the academy, these individuals demonstrated dedication, professionalism, resilience, and a commitment to serving the Huntington Beach community. Their training included emergency medical services, fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, physical fitness, and the many skills required to serve as firefighter paramedics.

With graduation now behind them, these six firefighter paramedics will be assigned to engine companies throughout the city, where they will begin their one year probationary period. During this time, they will continue to develop their skills under the guidance of experienced officers and firefighters while responding to emergency incidents and serving our community.

Please join us in congratulating our newest members as they begin their careers with the Huntington Beach Fire Department. We look forward to watching them grow and succeed in the years ahead.

Yesterday, members of the Huntington Beach Fire Department had the opportunity to attend the First Responders Appreciation Luncheon hosted by Hope Chapel Huntington Beach.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Hope Chapel, the event organizers, volunteers, and community members who took the time to recognize and support our firefighters, police officers, and Marine Safety lifeguards. The generosity, hospitality, and encouragement shown throughout the event were greatly appreciated by all who attended.

Events like these serve as a reminder of the strong partnership between our first responders and the community we are privileged to serve. Your support means a great deal to our personnel and their families.
