Midvale Haunt

Midvale Haunt Welcome! This page is dedicated to our annual Halloween home haunt display.

Whew! So many projects happening right now. This year’s display promises to be one of the most unique ones we have done. If you nerd out to this kind of thing, you will be happy to know we will be going vertical in a few weeks!

Why June? It always takes the whole summer to pull this display off. This year‘s display will feature a large scene that is indoors. We are trying some new effects, so we’re gonna need the extra time for testing and fine tuning the effects. Stay tuned! 🎃

The sound of the miter saw and the nail gun can only mean one thing… Halloween build season has truly begun. The first wall flat panel out of 30! 🎃

What is in the room right now?

Acetate sheets, an extremely large metal bowl (which is currently holding a bunch of randomness), 3-D printed parts, chip brushes, binding board, glass bottles, copper wire, tubing and piping, several different A/B chemicals, paints, a roll of leather, and two very large mystery items that are castings from an original of something from out west.

Halloween build season is well under way! 🎃

Gruß vom Krampus! (Greetings from Krampus!)

Tonight is Krampusnacht. In Eastern Alpine tradition, Krampi (there is not a single Krampus) punishes the naughty kids with coal and his Rute (a bundle of birch sticks that he uses to swat at misbehaving childten). This is all before the feast of St. Nicholas which is tomorrow, Dec. 6. Often, men dressed as Saint Nicholas will accompany Kraumpus to visit the children. If the child has behaved, they receive a small treat from Nicholas. Otherwise, beware of the Krampus! If you are lucky, you will get his Rute. Otherwise, he may put you in his basket or sack and take you off to the underworld or worse.
