For today's , we're highlighting A. Gary Reid of and a portion of his photo of a on a , interacting quite directly with what some humans have left .

It's a different, less peaceful, and more dynamic take on than some others we've shared — perhaps getting us to consider how SHOULD we interact with birds and waters in the world. What do yo think?

Hummingbird feathers look different depending on the light around them, and the viewer’s angle. The male Ruby-throated Hummingbird’s throat can look black to a vivid red.

The Ruby-throated Hummingbirds around the Museum are busy eating as much as possible as they get ready to migrate. They will leave Vermont in the first two weeks in November and spend their winters in Central America. They are one of the bird species that flies over the Gulf of Mexico.

We have many in this year's show; better get started showing them! This excerpt from Nancy Stone's show a loon on Scratchboard, with a red-tinted eye that draws ours.

We are so pleased to include Janet Fredericks in our series for . Her "Anhinga with Hidden Text" makes many visitors pause and look again.

Janet writes, "My paintings in this exhibit are my reverent attention to the shore birds … to their beauty, to their part in the great scheme of things, and their wildness. Are we not all migrants seeking one kind of refuge or another?"
