Wyoming County residents: Your input is needed to help develop the Wyoming County Flood Mitigation Action Strategy. The strategy will identify practical, locally informed actions to help reduce flood impacts to homes, businesses, infrastructure, and critical services. A key to this effort is ensuring the strategy reflects the experiences, needs, and priorities of local communities who have been directly affected by flooding. To share your voice, or to learn more about the project, please attend the meeting (found on this flyer) at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 24, at the Westside High School cafeteria.

Since Urban Agriculture is one of the biggest practices we offer in our district, our office staff decided to put it into practice by adding raised beds and growing our own tomatoes, eggplants, and bell peppers.

Today, we harvested our eggplants and turned them into a delicious eggplant Parmesan for lunch!

There’s nothing quite like enjoying the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labor. We’re already planning what we want to grow next year!

A covey of bobwhite quail flying in front of a game camera isn't an everyday event. Neither are the annual "A Day In The Hills" series of workshops brought to you by the Pheasants Forever Quail Forever in West Virginia team. Now in its second year, these workshops aim to provide professional advice to landowners, farmers, sportsmen and others interested in conservation. The western region's workshop, "Hunting Habitat: Pursuing Solutions for Upland Wildlife on Working Lands," has an agenda built from input by attendees of last year's workshop and will focus on:

🔹️ The history of northern bobwhite quail in West Virginia
🔹️Working lands from a landowner perspective
🔹️Managing fields and forests for agriculture and wildlife

➡️ Presentations will be made at different parts of the property. A camp chair and comfortable footwear are suggested. Bottled water and restroom will be provided.

Register today for the 2nd annual ‘A Day In The Hills’ series of wildlife workshops by our friends at Pheasants Forever Quail Forever (PFQF) in West Virginia. Our region’s event will be held at Wings & Spurs Shooting Preserve in Leon, WV (Mason County) Saturday 8/15/26 8:30AM-12:00PM.

PFQF biologist Brad Blaine will be presenting ‘Hunting Habitat: Pursuing Solutions for Upland Wildlife on Working Lands’ – discussing the history of bobwhite quail in WV and how to manage fields and forests for wildlife for different land goals.

The event is free but registration is required by 8/6/26.”
