A great crowd and a great time Saturday night for BBQ and POW/MIA observance. The food was delicious and the company was outstanding. Gina Gustafson spoke about her work with the Missing in America Project and the Missing Man Table was prepared by audience participants. Don and Sherry Barnes were recognized for their years of hard work for the VFW and Auxiliary. A big congratulations to Mr. E. Jones for being the lucky winner of the shotgun raffle. Hope to see everyone next time!

VFW post 8245 had the privilege of hosting Robert Luna on his walk across America to raise awareness for mental health for veterans. Safe travels, Robert, and we will see you down the road.

Presentation of Smart/Maher Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Kim Boyd of Mansfield High School is the winner for the 2023/2024 year. Thank you Department Commander Teddy Pipkin for making the trip to make the presentation. Thank you to our awesome auxiliary for all your hard work. I know Ms. Boyd will represent us well in the national competition. Thank you to all our Post members and Auxiliary members who were in attendance.
