We are so privileged to have had the opportunity to speak with author and scholar Kate Price after her reading at Booktenders in Barboursville earlier this month. Join us as we discuss the dynamics of gender-based violence in Appalachia and explore some of the ways resilience blooms in unlikely places.

We know that reaching out isn’t always easy. After abuse and isolation, talking about what happened can feel overwhelming, but it can also be the first step toward healing.

That’s why Branches offers a virtual domestic violence support group every Tuesday at 4pm, led by our Licensed Social Worker. This online option helps to remove barriers like transportation, child care, or safety concerns, making it easier to connect, confidentially and safely.

If you’re a survivor and this sounds like something you need, we want to hear from you. You deserve support, and we’ll help you find a way to access it.

Props to our Director of Development, Sara Blevins O'Toole, for presenting today at the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce's Nonprofit Roundtable workshop, Building Stronger Nonprofits: A Collaborative Leadership Series. We benefit from her knowledge and innovation all the time, and we love that she gets to share it with the community.

Wow! What an incredible evening with author, Kate Price! By far one of the most powerful conversations we’ve ever had! But don’t worry—if you missed it. Kate was kind enough to sit down with us for an episode of Root for Each Other, coming soon! As we raise our voices in solidarity with survivors, we also thank them for sharing their stories with such courage and passion. A special thank you to Booktenders WV for creating a safe space for Kate to share her moving story and for all they do to make our community a more trauma response space!

It’s hard to find words to say how special it was to finally meet Kate Price and have her at the shop. The conversation was, at times, tough and meaningful and funny and caring.

We had Kate sign some copies of this incredible book so come in and snag one!

Thank you to all of you who joined us for the event. And a special thanks to our advocates at Branches and CONTACT for being on hand.
