During National Police Week, we pause to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community.

We pay tribute to Officer Oscar M. Christian (End of Watch: April 19, 1914) and Officer Charles E. Ball (End of Watch: November 10, 1923), who gave their lives protecting the citizens of Huntington. Their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty will never be forgotten.

Though many years have passed, their sacrifice remains a lasting part of our department’s history and our city’s legacy.
We stand in gratitude and remembrance.🇺🇲⚘️

National Police Officers Memorial Week

Today, the Huntington Police Department honors the memory and sacrifice of our first fallen officer, Town Marshal Isaac H. Mitchell.

On June 27, 1876, Marshal Mitchell gave his life in the line of duty while courageously pursuing a suspected horse thief outside of Huntington. His commitment to protecting this community even in the earliest days of our city’s history set the foundation for the service and sacrifice that define our department to this day.

Nearly 150 years later, we continue to stand watch because of men like him. His bravery, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
