The Cabell County Commission is committed to safety for our residents. The Commissioners are grateful for a wonderful partnership with Faith Health Appalachia where they have provided two new AEDs.

One has been installed on the 2nd floor of the Cabell County Courthouse near the courtrooms and other department offices. The second is installed at the 4-H Camp where hundreds of events are hosted every year. This helps keep our citizens and staff safe in our public spaces. Thank you to Faith Health Appalachia! ❤️

Congrats to the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department! ❤️🚒

Today, the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department was honored to receive the 2025 West Virginia Governor’s Highway Safety Program Publicity Award. 🚒🏆

This award recognizes agencies across the state who work to keep their communities informed, educated, and safer through public outreach and highway safety messaging.

From weather alerts and road hazard updates to seatbelt reminders, distracted driving awareness, slow down/yield posts, flood safety, ATV safety, move over reminders, and all the feral chaos in between… our goal has always been simple:

Keep our community informed.
Keep our people safe.
And maybe yell at you lovingly to slow your tail down on Mall Road. ❤️

This recognition belongs to EVERYONE:
• our members who answer the calls
• our community that shares our posts
• our neighboring departments and agencies
• and our Holler Heathens who tolerate the raccoon behavior long enough to read the safety message hidden inside it. 🦝

We are incredibly honored and thankful for the support this community continues to show us every single day.

Barboursville, thank you for allowing us to serve you. ❤️

National Day of Prayer — a time to reflect, unite, and lift up our community, state, and nation in prayer.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and to the faith leaders, community members, elected officials, and citizens who came together in fellowship and hope. In times of challenge and opportunity alike, prayer reminds us of the importance of service, compassion, and working together for the good of all.

May we continue to pray for peace, wisdom, strength, and the safety and well-being of the people of Cabell County and beyond.
