We can't share this enough. If you are struggling please reach out someone will always be there for you

The biggest lie in public safety is this:

“I’m good.”

We say it after bad calls.
After child deaths.
After the nights nobody else sees.

Because that’s what we’re supposed to do.

Be tough.
Handle it.
Don’t complain.

But here’s the truth from someone who’s been around this job a while:

Nobody walks through this career untouched.

Not firefighters.
Not cops.
Not medics.

The job changes you.
The calls stay with you.

And pretending you’re fine
doesn’t make it go away.

Talking about it might.

Check on your people tonight.
The quiet ones especially.

A simple
“You good?”
might save someone’s life.

Congratulations to everyone

Friday, April 24th, was a proud day for the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association as we gathered at the Indiana Statehouse to celebrate an incredible milestone.

We honored 91 firefighters who have dedicated 50 years of service to their communities across Indiana.

Think about that—five decades of answering the call, serving their neighbors, and standing on the front lines when it mattered most. Their commitment represents the very best of the fire service and the heart of volunteerism.

On behalf of the IVFA, we would like to thank each of these honorees for their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and lasting legacy. You have paved the way for future generations of firefighters.

We would like to take a minute and show our appreciation to Assistant Chief Rex Johnson on his 50 years of service to the department and the communities we serve. He was recently honored in Indianapolis with several 50 year members from across the state.
To put this achievement in retrospect when Rex joined the department I was 3 years old.
Thanks again for everything.

By the authority of the Huntington County Commissioners, Huntington County is now under a Travel Watch (Orange) as a proactive measure due to worsening winter weather conditions.

A Travel Watch means conditions are threatening to public safety. During a Travel Watch, only essential travel, such as travel to and from work or for emergency situations, is recommended. Businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations should review and implement their emergency action plans as appropriate.

While snowfall amounts vary across the county, road conditions are continuing to deteriorate due to snow-covered roads, drifting on county roads, and icy conditions. Conditions are expected to worsen as additional snow and drifting continue, particularly later today and into the evening hours.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable.

A map of all Indiana counties currently under a Travel Advisory, Watch, or Warning can be found here:
