Today, multiple agencies came together at Huntington North High School for a powerful DUI and distracted driving reenactment ahead of prom weekend.

Participants included the Huntington Police Department (Officer Wiseley), Huntington County Sheriff’s Office (Chief Deputy Hammel), Huntington Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Huntington County Coroner’s Office, Huntington County Emergency Management, Huntington County Public Safety Dispatch, Huntington County Prosecutor (Jeremy Nix) and Huntington County Courts (Judge Newton).

Students witnessed a realistic mock crash scene followed by a courtroom proceeding, highlighting the real-life consequences of impaired and distracted driving.

We hope this impactful demonstration stays with students as they make decisions this weekend. Make smart choices. Stay safe.

🌴☀️ SPRING BREAK SAFETY PSA ☀️🌴

Spring break is here! Whether you’re headed to the beach, the mountains, or just escaping to somewhere without Indiana weather… we wish you safe travels!

A few friendly reminders before you hit the road:

🚗 Drive like your mom is watching
🍹 If you drink, don’t drive (yes, even “just one”)
📵 Put the phone down — TikTok can wait
🏠 Lock your doors so your house doesn’t host its own spring break party

And for those staying back in town…

🌩️ Keep an eye on the weather tonight — it could get a little dicey.
(Yes, unfortunately Indiana is still on duty and not going on spring break.)

And remember… what happens on spring break stays on spring break… unless it ends up in a police report.

Have fun, be smart, stay weather-aware, and come back with stories — not citations.

Dispatch had several calls this morning about some radio traffic that was heard over the radio. Parkview Huntington Hospital completed Active Shooter training earlier today. This was only a drill and training exercise only. For further information contact Parkview Huntington Hospital.

🚓 Quick PSA:

With the high winds today, several trash cans have decided to take an unsupervised tour of our roadways. Unfortunately, this creates hazards for motorists.

If your trash can is still by the road, please bring it back in so it doesn’t end up in traffic.

Your cooperation is appreciated — and your trash can will thank you. 💨🗑️
