A wonderful resource for youth in Whitley County!

"People forget that food insecurity extends far outside city limits. Children in rural areas are often hit especially hard during breaks from school, with devastating consequences. We believe every child deserves the basic human dignity of food, and we are deeply grateful to these funders and partners who have made feeding children a priority." -Jama Ross, Blessings in a Backpack Executive Director

We are proud to announce the expansion of our Summer Feeding Program into Whitley and Kosciusko Counties through a collaborative partnership with United Way of Whitley and Kosciusko Counties, Community Foundation of Whitley County, and Parkview Health Foundation. This expansion will provide more than 2,900 weekend food bags to children across rural communities this summer to help bridge the gap for children facing food insecurity during summer break.

Food distribution sites for Whitley Summer 2026 include:

Miami Village
9 & 30 Mini-Storage
Columbia City Parks Department
