The Huntington Branch Library will re-open for regularly scheduled hours today. The evacuation notice for the city is down to Level 1, as of 8/3/26 5:00PM. Whoop whoop!

Fire Evacuation Updates for the Fox and Powder River Fires issued by the Baker County Sheriff's Office on August 8, 2026 @5:00pm.

⚠ UPDATE (8/3/26 5:00PM): Evacuation levels for the Fox Fire and Powder River Fire have been reduced. A Level 3 (GO NOW) area west of Snake River Road has been reduced to Level 2 (BE SET). A Level 2 (BE SET) area, including Huntington, has been reduced to Level 1 (BE READY).

Huntington strong!

Huntington City Councilor Justin Power credited volunteer firefighters and residents with protecting the town as the Fox Fire reached 75,841 acres and 58% containment.

The library will remain closed until the evacuation notice is down to Level 1 or zero.

Huntington branch library is closed until further notice while the city is under a Level 3 evacuation order.

🚨 Huntington Evacuation Update From Baker County Sheriff's Office 🚨

Weather conditions, including gusty winds, have caused erratic fire behavior on the Fox Fire.

As a precaution, the Baker County Sheriff's Office has expanded the evacuation zone:

Level 3 (GO NOW): City of Huntington

Law enforcement and Baker County Search and Rescue are in Huntington to notify residents.

A temporary evacuation shelter has been established at:
Ontario Public Training Center
55 NE 2nd Ave.
Ontario, OR 97914

For residents that need transportation assistance to the shelter, a bus will be leaving Huntington City Hall at 10:30 p.m.
