We utilize our available resources to deliver the highest possible quality of service through fire suppression, fire prevention, public education, rescue services and mitigation of the effects of natural and manmade disasters. We are committed to excellence and must work hard to train and prepare for our duties. Our professional conduct and appearance enhance a valued relationship with the citizens we serve. Our apparatus, buildings, equipment and supplies are the tools we use to accomplish our important mission and are treated with care and respect. A response ready posture is our goal at all times.. The lives and property of the people of our City are dependent upon our performance. We are The Huntington Fire Department. Established as a professional department in 1897, the Huntington Fire Department has a long rich heritage dating back to the 19th century. The department currently provides nine fully staffed companies with a compliment of support staff and apparatus responding from six stations strategically located fire stations throughout the city of approximately 51,475 people. The Huntington Fire Department is responsible for the fire protection of a myriad of diverse industries, schools, commercial businesses, transportation and residential structures and provides first responder emergency medical assistance. Huntington is located on the Southern banks of the Ohio River and its tributaries, and is the river's largest port area. The fire department is capable of water rescue operations and is the host locality to the Regional # 6 West Virginia Regional Response Team which provides Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Team responses.

The new Westmoreland Fire Station in the 3200 block of Piedmont Road will officially open Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM. The public is invited to celebrate with us as the ribbon is cut! Our friends at Sue's Antique Mall, 459 Camden Road have generously made their parking lot available during the event. Our partners at TTA are providing shuttle. We are excited and proud to showcase your new fire station!

City of Huntington crews responded to an automatic fire alarm at a commercial complex in the 1300 block of Adams Avenue this morning at 7:24 AM. First arriving units noted smoke showing from the roof and interior. Additional personnel, aerial equipment, Huntington Police Department and Cabell County EMS were dispatched at that time. The fire has been contained and extinguished. All roads are reopened at this time. Fire officials remain on scene working with the facility maintenance team to expeditiously restore full operations. All personnel are reported safe.

City of Huntington crews quickly contained and extinguished a structure fire in the 600 block of West 24th Street this morning. No occupants were discovered and all firefighters are reported safe at the 10:53 AM alarm. The City Fire Marshal is on scene.

The City of Huntington Fire Department will be conducting home fire sprinkler demonstrations starting at 11:00 AM today at the Tri-State Fire Academy just north of Guyandotte on Route 2. The public is invited to learn the benefits of home fire sprinklers. Architects, contractors and builders are especially encouraged.

City of Huntington crews responded to a structure fire on Perry Drive this evening at 9:46 PM. First due companies met heavy fire and smoke from a reported abandoned house. No occupants were discovered and all firefighters are reported safe. Cabell County EMS is on scene. The City Fire Marshal is investigating.
