Today, we celebrate seven years of recovery for our Women’s Program Director, Joy Bir! 🥳

Over the past seven years, Joy has become a beacon of hope in our community. She has walked alongside people in some of their hardest moments, reminding them that their past does not have to define their future and that freedom really is possible.

Today, her story has come full circle. Joy now serves as the Women’s Program Director at the place where her own path toward freedom first began. She brings not only professional experience to this role, but also compassion, honesty and the kind of hope that comes from having walked the road herself.

Joy’s story reminds us that recovery does not always follow the path we expect. God works through every chapter, every step, and every open door ... and He is faithful to use our stories to bring hope to others.

Congratulations on seven years, Joy. We are grateful to see all God has done in your life and all He continues to do through you!

Recovery IS possible. 💜

Throughout September, in recognition of National Recovery Month, we will be continuing what we started at our Celebration Dinner - Stories of Grace: stories of women who have walked through the doors of Place of Grace and courageously begun building new lives.

Their stories include hard chapters, but those chapters do not have the final word. We have watched God bring healing, restore hope, and create possibilities that once felt far away.

Recovery is not something anyone does alone. It thrives through safe housing, accountability, meaningful relationships, opportunity and a community willing to believe that change is possible.

Join us this month as we celebrate the women behind the stories ... and the grace that continues to write them.

Last night was a beautiful reminder of God's faithfulness to Place of Grace. Where we've been, where we are, and where He is leading us next.

We heard Leaha share a powerful story of transformation. From addiction and incarceration to recovery, purpose, and now serving her community alongside the very officer who once arrested her.

And as we looked back over nearly ten years of Place of Grace, one thing became clear:
Our story has revealed our calling.

God has continually led us to places where barriers keep people and families from moving forward - recovery, housing, employment, family restoration - and called us to faithfully respond.

And there is still more to build.

Our Celebration Dinner goal is $100,000. So far, $53,000 has been given or committed, which means we still have $47,000 to raise.

Your gift helps us sustain the work happening today, finish our new Family Housing apartments, and prepare for what God calls us to do next.

Our final Women's Program Team updates is: Faith Ferguson, our House Manager!

While Faith is new to the team, she is not new to Place of Grace family! Faith is a Place of Grace graduate and has continued to mentor our residents since her graduation.

Faith brings warmth, peace, and JOY to our home! She lives out her faith and recovery every day and is an incredible support to the women in the program.

Next up for our re-introductions of our Women’s Program Team: Shauna Dotson, Case Manager!

Shauna started with Place of Grace as our Ministry Assistant and then transitioned to the Recovery Coach role, where she’s served for the last year. She just graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s in Social work so was promoted to Case Manager.

In this new role, she will continue to provide peer support to our residents as she helps them navigate and accomplish their personal and program goals. Shauna uses her lived experience to bring hope and empowerment to the women we serve. She is passionate about recovery and makes everyone who walks through our doors feel at home!

We are so thankful for Shauna and can’t wait to see how the Lord will use her in this new season.
