Regarding the recent post we had made public of the unauthorized use of the park dumpster donated by Republic Waste we would like to elaborate on why we reacted as we did.

In this incident there were to two young females that witnessed the dumping and were confronted, verbally, by the individual unloading his bags in the dumpster. Yes, when our community is afraid, we will take action. And yes, these two young ladies felt threatened.

The post drew some criticism and that was not the intent. It was instead to inform the public that Huntley is a tight-knit community that keeps a vigilant eye on the success and safety of this community.

In the winter months, the dumpster is locked except during the Christmas Stroll. On November 21, we had a local resident leave 6 full bags of trash in front of the dumpster because it was locked. We did take the trash back to his residence.

On previous occasions, we have had our dumpster filled to capacity with trash. This was not trash from park use, which is why we started looking to identify who left it and ask that they retrieve their trash.

The Huntley Community Club holds open board meetings at 6 pm on the third Wednesday (excluding December) at the YVEC Community room. Please join the meetings and offer solutions for ongoing issues that often are unknown to the general public, such as the garbage being left in or in front of our dumpster among other issues. We welcome everyone’s input, and always are looking for more volunteers to join our organization.
Executive Board: President Pete Robison, Vice President Marc Larson, Secretary Selena Blanchard, Treasurer Susan Johnson.
