The Huntley Fire Protection District is a separate taxing body which handles fire protection and emergency rescue service for the Village of Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Hampshire, Gilberts, unincorporated Kane and McHenry counties, and a 9-mile stretch of Interstate 90. The current district population is approximately 62,000 residents. The Huntley Fire Protection District currently has

82 full-time members, as well as 20 part-time members. The District is staffed by a Chief, Deputy Chief of Administration, Deputy Chief of Operations, Executive Administrator, Administrative Assistant, Fire Marshal, Director of Training and Safety, Director of Mobile Integrated Health, Director of Emergency Medical Services, Mechanic, 3 Battalion Chiefs, and 18 Lieutenants. The entire district is under the direction of a five member elected Board of Trustees and a 3-member Board of Commissioners. The District is a member of MABAS Division 5 and Division 4/5 Lake and McHenry County Specialized Response Team. The District places a high degree of importance on the customer service it provides to both internal and external customers.

Members of the Huntley Fire Protection District traveled to YMCA Camp Duncan in Ingleside to participate in the annual Camp I Am Me Fire Apparatus Parade.

Camp I Am Me by Illinois Fire Safety Alliance provides a unique summer camp experience for children who have sustained burn injuries, offering a supportive environment where campers can build confidence, form lasting friendships, and create lifelong memories. The parade is one of the highlights of the week, bringing together fire apparatus from across Illinois to greet campers and show support for their journey.

We are proud to support Camp I Am Me and the important work the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance does throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Culver's in Huntley to support Camp I Am Me and the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. Despite periods of rain and thunderstorms throughout the evening, our community once again showed up for this incredible cause. Through a combination of Culver’s sales, cash donations, and online contributions, a total of $2,019.90 was raised

A special thank you to Culver’s of Huntley and their staff for hosting this annual fundraiser and contributing a portion of their sales to the effort.

This annual partnership helps support Camp I Am Me by Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and the many programs the IFSA provides for children and families affected by burn injuries. We are grateful for the continued generosity of our community and everyone who helped make this year’s event a success.

The next generation of firefighters got some hands-on experience this past weekend as members of our Cadet Program joined cadets from the Elgin Fire for a day of training and teamwork.

Throughout the training, cadets participated in stations focused on fire behavior, forcible entry, search techniques, and an air pack confidence maze. These evolutions provided valuable opportunities to build skills, gain confidence, and experience some of the challenges firefighters face on emergency scenes.

Thank you to the instructors, advisors, and cadets from both departments who helped make the training a success. Opportunities like these help prepare future firefighters while strengthening relationships throughout the fire service.

It is with profound sadness that the Huntley Fire Protection District announces the passing of Trustee John Davis.

Trustee Davis served the Huntley Fire Protection District for more than 15 years and dedicated a lifetime to the fire service. His leadership, experience, and unwavering support of our district helped shape our organization and will leave a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his distinguished career.

After more than 34 years of dedicated service, Lieutenant James Brown was honored with a traditional walkout ceremony surrounded by dozens of coworkers, friends, family members, and current and former members of the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Throughout his career, Lt. Brown responded to countless emergencies, helped shape the organization, and mentored generations of firefighters and paramedics who continue to serve our community today. His knowledge, leadership, and commitment to the fire service have left a lasting impact on the district and the many people who had the opportunity to learn from and work alongside him.

Thank you, Lt. Brown, for your years of service, dedication, and leadership. We wish you and your family all the best in retirement.

Just a reminder that our Camp I Am Me by Illinois Fire Safety Alliance fundraiser at Culver’s of Huntley is this Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Stop by for dinner, meet your local firefighters, and help support programs that benefit burn survivors and their families.

Join us at Culver's of Huntley on Thursday, June 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a fundraiser supporting Camp I Am Me by Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. Enjoy dinner while helping send young burn survivors to a life changing camp experience, and meet Huntley firefighters, cadets, and interns throughout the evening.

A portion of sales, along with donations collected during the event, will benefit Camp I Am Me and the programs it provides for burn survivors and their families. Fire apparatus will also be on display, so bring the family and stop by to support a great cause.

After more than 34 years of dedicated service, Lieutenant James Brown is preparing to retire from the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Please join us on Tuesday, June 9th, as we celebrate Lt. Brown’s career and thank him for his years of service to our organization and community. An open house will be held at 4:00 p.m., followed by a traditional walkout ceremony at 5:00 p.m. at Huntley Fire Station 1, 11118 Main Street in Huntley.

The Huntley Fire Protection District is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $26,000 grant through the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Small Equipment Grant Program for the purchase of two mechanical CPR devices!

Mechanical CPR devices provide consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest incidents, helping firefighter/paramedics deliver critical lifesaving care while allowing crews to focus on other important patient care interventions.

We thank the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal for its continued support of fire and EMS agencies across Illinois.
