PUBLIC NOTICE FROM THE MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

Around 4:15 the morning of August 28, 2026, Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to a shooting in the Kingston area.

Upon arrival they found one male subject deceased.

Suspect was still on scene and taken into custody.

Arkansas State Police was called to assist with the investigation.

This appears to be an isolated incident and we do not believe there is reason for further concerns for the public’s safety.

No names will be released at this time.

Madison County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Huntsville Police Department, Arkansas State Police, and Madison County EMS for their assistance on the call.

Reminder: There are two (2) meetings happening tomorrow evening, Monday, August 17, 2026 at the Madison County Courthouse. The Madison County Planning Board will hold its second public hearing on their proposed data center moratorium ordinance at 5:30p.m. proceeding the regular monthly meeting of the Madison County Quorum Court at 6:00p.m.

🔥 Burn Ban Effective Immediately 🔥

Madison County Judge Larry Garrett has declared a burn ban to be in effect for Madison County in accordance with A.C.A. 12-75-108 today, August 10, 2026. This order will remain in full force and effect until duly lifted by a similar order of the County Judge and all fines, fees and penalties will be in full effect for disregard of the order's intent and authority.

***LAST WEEK TO APPEAL TO THE MADISON COUNTY EQUALIZATION BOARD***

Reminder: The Madison County Equalization Board is currently in session. Anyone interested in appealing a property's appraisal value has one more week to submit an appeal to the EQ Board for consideration.

If you believe that a property valuation is in need of reconsideration due to qualifying factors, please contact the appraisers first at 844-390-7791 and see if they can make and submit a valuation change on your behalf to the EQ Board. If they are unable to assist and you would like to submit an appeal directly to the EQ Board, you will need to fill out the following form: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:VA6C2:4eed3c03-4684-411c-980f-9b63d8896915

This form will need to be submitted to the Madison County Clerk's Office by end of business on Monday, August 17, 2026. The County Clerk's Office can be reached at (479) 738-2747 Monday - Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
