Huntsville ISD Tropical Weather Watch - 6/16/2026 Alert

Dear Huntsville ISD Families,

Huntsville ISD is currently tracking inclement weather forecasts related to tropical storm activity along the Texas Gulf Coast. Over the next few days, our immediate area faces a strong potential for increased rainfall which will increase the potential for flooding and gusty winds. Despite these conditions, we anticipate normal operations with summer school as scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17.

Our monitoring will continue through tonight and into Thursday. Early tomorrow morning, the HISD Transportation Department will conduct an evaluation of local road conditions. If any changes to our schedule become necessary, we will notify families no later than 5:30 AM, or as soon as a decision is reached.

For the latest updates regarding plans for our school community, please stay tuned to the Huntsville ISD website and our social media channels. We encourage all families, particularly those in low-lying areas, to take all the necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Several things to note:
1. Eligibility is NOT dependent on enrollment status but the children must be present to participate.

2. All Green Hornet bus stop times are subject to change due to delays or early arrivals. Please plan to allow a few minutes before and after each arrival/start time as shown on the Green Hornet Bus Stop schedule.

Calling ALL Hornets ~

It's time to help HISD find more CHAMPIONS to honor!!
The purpose of the Hall of Champions is to acknowledge the outstanding lifetime achievements of former Huntsville Hornets in a variety of categories. The honor reflects personal and professional accomplishments, as well as larger contributions to our society at a local, state, national, or international level. Honorees are role models and represent Champions in life - the “best of the best” among Hornet Alumni, former HISD employees and former HISD trustees. This year's chosen Champions will be inducted into the HISD HALL OF CHAMPIONS Class of 2026 during at a varsity football game this coming season.

Please submit your Hall of Champions nominations today!

The nomination deadline is Friday, August 14, 2026, to be considered for this fall's recognition.

HISD FREE Summer Meal Program Available to ALL Huntsville Area Children --

Huntsville ISD is proud to once again sponsor the Seamless Summer Meal Program FREE of charge for ALL Huntsville area children!!

Beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, FREE Meals will be available for all Huntsville area children ages 18 and younger, and enrolled students up to age 21 with disabilities, at 3 campus sites (aligned with summer school) and via the HISD Green Hornet Food Bus on Monday-Thursday only through most of July. Children do NOT have to be enrolled in Huntsville ISD or summer activities to participate.

The 3 campus sites are Huntsville Elementary School, Mance Park Middle School and Huntsville High School (breakfast and lunch times vary by site). Grab and Go meals will also be distributed at 9 designated Green Hornet bus stops. Green Hornet meals will include LUNCH plus BREAKFAST for the next day.

Today we had a visit from our former SJE students who are graduating this year. 🎓It was the annual Senior Walk of Champions. They came back to SJE to celebrate with our current students and show them what they have to look forward to with little hard work and determination. Many teachers remember these very students walking the halls of SJE years ago and we wish them luck on their journeys after high school. We know they are destined for great things. As they chanted, "SJE, the best place to be!" Forever our Scott Johnson Family! 🥰
