Last week, we had the privilege of gathering with leaders from CASA programs around the state to discuss the challenges faced by CASA today, and the unique and innovative ways that programs are facing these challenges head on! With Executive Directors and Board Presidents gathered in one place, in was truly a meeting of the best of the best!

Thank you Texas CASA, Inc. for hosting such a meaningful gathering. We look forward to the next conversation!

It's not easy but it IS quite simple.

After ✨1, 103 days✨ in foster care 2 boys were adopted!

They were the only case being heard that afternoon which was good because the courtroom was full of their family, friends, and church family. Before it was all over everyone had shared in both laughter and happy tears including the two boys. At one point each of the children shared how they were ready for this day and to make their family official. When the Judge asked the 7year old if he knew the difference between and truth and a lie he said, "a lie was a sin" and everyone chuckled. A friend of the family shared beautiful gospel hymn during it and many were moved to tears.

The room was filled with many emotions; happiness and relief the day has come, gratefulness for their support systems that got them to this day, and excitement for the ice cream they were going to have this evening to celebrate.

June is ✨National Reunification Month✨ so we wanted to take a minute and share about one of the families we are working with.

Last week we were excited to advocate for 2 children to start their monitored return home with their mother and father. It was a bit emotional for the parents because of how much it meant to them, not only that their children are coming home, but because of how far each of them has come. There were points in the case where we all worried this day might not come but thankfully it did.

They have worked hard to achieve and maintain sobriety, and they have both been able to find good jobs with one of the parents already promoting to assistant manager. As the caseworker continued to share about the other services completed the parents continued to smile. The Judge congratulated them and shared how proud we all were of them and the whole courtroom broke out in applause. Happy tears were shed by all, and we are excited to continue to watch this family heal and grow together.

CASA's volunteers are vital to helping children navigate an increasingly complex child welfare system. In FY25 alone, nearly 7,000 CASA volunteers served children across Texas. These children deserve a united front of advocates, and we’re determined to give them just that as they face one of the most challenging moments that a child or young person can experience.
