North Alabama is an economic powerhouse fueled by our dynamic workforce, innovative job creators, and strong partnerships. I enjoyed discussing my work to keep this momentum moving forward during our annual Washington Update hosted by the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce.

It is my mission to ensure Redstone Arsenal and our region’s industrial base continues to play a leading role in carrying out vital national security and space exploration objectives. Had the opportunity to visit UAH’s Severe Weather Institute — Radar and Lightning Laboratories and speak with the researchers behind its success. The critical radar and meteorology research conducted at this facility keeps our community safe and gives us cutting-edge severe weather tracking capabilities.

I am proud to be actively working to secure $2.5 million in community project funding for the university to acquire mobile field components that will help the Institute collect real-world weather data and advance important research.

It was an honor visiting with the Huntsville Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. These men and women served their nation valiantly, and I view it as my responsibility to fight on their behalf in Washington.

These folks are true patriots who continue to serve by supporting aging veterans and leading important charitable efforts in our community. They represent what it means to be American and are proof that our veterans are the best among us.

We discussed the significance of the new state VA cemetery in North Alabama and how it will serve as a lasting place of respect and remembrance close to home. I was proud to help secure federal support for this project and ensure we are honoring the sacrifices made by those who wore the uniform.

I was honored to join the Defense Intelligence Agency for the opening of their new Material Exploitation Center. This facility expands the agency’s presence at Redstone Arsenal and highlights North Alabama’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety of America.

The Missile and Space Intelligence Center has been the nation’s premier source of foreign missile and space intelligence, and this facility ensures that legacy continues into the next generation of strategic competition.

I enjoyed visiting with local officials from across the Tennessee Valley during the Alabama League of Municipalities Fifth Congressional District Luncheon. We discussed my work to drive federal investment to our communities to help fund critical infrastructure projects and bolster local emergency response agencies.

As a former county commissioner, I understand the importance of working alongside the federal government. I am proud to partner with our local leaders and ensure North Alabama continues to receive its fair share of grant funding.

It’s always a great time visiting Morgan County and hearing from local leaders. I look forward to continue partnering with the community and building on recent accomplishments. These are exciting times for the area, and I truly believe our best days are ahead.

Caught up with Trinity Mayor Vaughn Goodwin and Police Chief Randy Hughes. In Congress, I’m proud to be actively advancing community project funding for the town’s police department to make upgrades to their patrol vehicles and communications equipment. I’m always glad to partner with our region’s rural law enforcement agencies.

Checked in with my staff at the Morgan County Courthouse to discuss casework and this year’s service academy nominations process. During my visit, it was great to chat with the folks in the sheriff’s office who work in courthouse security and keep county offices safe.

Had the opportunity to meet Reggie Ash, who recently took the reins as CEO of the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. We discussed economic development and infrastructure improvement, along with the $3 million I secured for the planning phase of the Tennessee River Bridge project. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I’m proud to direct federal investment toward critical transportation projects in our district.
