The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office would like to give a special shoutout to our very own local CrossFit gym, Magic City Barbell, for nominating both Captain Ward and our office for the LMNT “Give A Salt” initiative.

Captain Ward, who is also a proud member of Magic City Barbell, was honored alongside the agency through this initiative, which recognizes individuals and organizations making a positive impact on the health and well-being of others within their communities. As part of this recognition, LMNT provided electrolyte products as a token of appreciation.

Magic City Barbell shared the following message with our office:

“Thank you for all of your work the last couple of weeks. Hope these help you all get hydrated and show at least some of us appreciate you all!”

Magic City Barbell has also been a tremendous community partner by hosting the Moberly Area SWAT Team during their annual physical fitness qualifications, further demonstrating their continued support of first responders and public safety efforts throughout our region.

Thank you, Magic City Barbell, for your continued support and generosity. We are grateful to be part of a community that consistently comes together to support one another, and we truly appreciate the encouragement, partnership, and support shown by our community. Gestures like this remind us how fortunate we are to serve alongside people and organizations that continue to stand behind law enforcement and first responders.

During Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, we pause to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who wear the badge and serve their communities every day. This week is a time to show gratitude to the officers, deputies, and troopers, who work tirelessly to protect others — often under difficult, exhausting, and dangerous circumstances.

National Police Week and Law Enforcement Appreciation observances trace back to 1962, when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. Since then, communities across the country have used this time not only to honor fallen officers, but also to recognize the ongoing service and sacrifice of active law enforcement personnel.

Here in Randolph County, the members of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office have recently faced some of the most demanding and emotionally taxing days imaginable. Over the past several days, our deputies, investigators, and partner agencies, have worked around the clock through an intense and strenuous investigation while continuing to answer an already overwhelming call volume throughout the county.

Many of these men and women have gone without sleep, worked extended shifts, missed time with their families, and carried the emotional weight that comes with difficult investigations and constant emergency calls. Behind every scene the public sees are countless hours of searching, interviewing, coordinating resources, writing reports, processing evidence, and ensuring every possible lead is followed thoroughly and professionally.

Even while carrying that burden, the calls for service never stop. Deputies continue responding to emergencies, accidents, domestic disturbances, medical assists, welfare checks, traffic crashes, and countless other situations where citizens depend on them to arrive in moments of crisis.

Law enforcement is more than a profession — it is a commitment to serve others regardless of exhaustion, stress, criticism, or personal sacrifice. It means continuing forward on sleepless nights because the community depends on you to do so. It means remaining professional and compassionate even in the face of tragedy and heartbreak.

This week, we also remember the officers across this nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others, as well as the families who continue to carry that loss. Their legacy is reflected every day in the men and women who still answer the call to serve.

To every member of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and to all agencies who assisted during these recent events: thank you. Thank you for your professionalism, resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the citizens of Randolph County. Your long hours, sleepless nights, and commitment to seeing the job through have not gone unnoticed.

Please join us in showing appreciation and support for the law enforcement officers who continue to serve our communities with courage and honor every single day. 🇺🇸💙
