Yesterday, 8/6/26 was National Balloon Day! Many of our participants wrote notes to those they love; we sent off two!

Balloons are so popular, we will continue celebrating next week with balloon pickle ball!

That promised to be quite fun and lots of laughs!

Meals on Wheels Walker County TX will be closed in celebration of July 4th, vacation, and staff development through July 10.

We will resume normal business hours on Monday, July 13.

All meals were delivered in advance of our time away.

Today is National Hamburger Day! At Meals on Wheels Walker County TX we were all crowned Burger Royalty! We served burgers both at the Center and for home-delivery!

For fun at the Center, we had a contest of assembling “play burgers” blindfolded!

And for added fun, they got to taste different cheeses and choose which one they liked best to add their burger!

We appreciate Commissioners Court for the Proclamation presentation!

We are grateful for SHSU L.E.A.P. students and Professor Mike Yawn, board members and a fraction of our volunteers as they give their time weekly to impact older Americans!

Shout out to the SHSU L.E.A.P. students that came as part of their class back in early spring—-they ❤️❤️❤️ serving our senior adults and they continue to show up on their own time to keep being a part of making a difference!

Thank you Wynne Home for hosting EMPTY BOWLS every year to benefit on Wheels Walker County TX!

Like past years, this year’s event was a great success; raising over $8000!!!!!

Thank you to the City of Huntsville, all of the businesses that provided soups/sandwiches/desserts for the event! Thank you Angela and Tracy and all that volunteered with you to make it so fantastic!

We are so grateful! We love our community!

Thank you SHSU School of Music! They have been so faithful to show each week to play music, sing-alongs, help with rhythm, eye-hand coordination, and so much more! They will be missed but we hope they are back in the fall!
