The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the donation of surplus body cameras from the Fentress County Sheriff's Office. When outreach was made to Sheriff Keeton to see if we would like to accept the donation, he gladly accepted the opportunity. Once the donation was approved by the Fentress County counsel, we were honored and proud to officially receive the donation.
This generous contribution takes us one step closer to having body cameras on our road deputies. We believe body cameras are an important tool for transparency, accountability, and the safety of both deputies and the public we serve.
Currently, the necessary steps required to properly use, maintain, and manage the body camera system are being put into place. Once those steps are complete, we will be implementing mandatory body camera usage within the Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, at the beginning of the year, we submitted an application for a body camera grant. We are hopeful to be selected as a recipient of those funds, which would allow us to purchase additional body cameras and continue expanding this important program.
Sheriff Keeton would also like to extend a special thank you to Sheriff Fowler and Kris Lewallen for reaching out and helping bring this opportunity to Scott County. We appreciate the partnership and support from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office and remain committed to moving Scott County law enforcement forward.
