Carfax, an National Safety Council partner, released data that shows nearly 1 million vehicles on U.S. roads have open recalls for defective LATCH connectors. Malfunctioning LATCH connectors can put children and everyone at risk on the road since these anchoring systems can prevent child car seats from being installed correctly. If you have an open safety recall, you can get it repaired at a dealership free of charge.

The holidays bring loved ones together across the country, but the increase in travel also brings heightened risks on our roads. This year, the National Safety Council estimates 431 traffic fatalities during the Christmas holiday period and 429 during New Year’s – tragedies that would leave hundreds of families and friends facing the holidays with an empty seat at the table.
Simple acts can save lives. If every driver and passenger buckled up this holiday season, 218 more people would survive crashes and celebrate with their loved ones. Learn more safety tips here for the : https://bit.ly/NSCnewsroomholidayEstimates.

It’s important to prioritize for all and drive defensively, especially for our most vulnerable road users. The National Safety Council applauds the U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT) release of new female crash test dummy design that addresses the ongoing trend of higher crash injury and fatality rates among women than men.
The advanced design better represents women’s body types, enabling improved assessment of injury risk for small female occupants and ultimately resulting in more effective safety features in cars.
“Women continue to suffer higher rates of crash fatality and serious injury compared to men, despite being less likely to get into fatal crashes than men. This new vehicle crash test device is a breakthrough in efforts to close the safety gap for female vehicle occupants that has persisted for far too long," said Lorraine Martin, CEO of the National Safety Council.
