Today, we remember Dolly Parton, a beloved storyteller, songwriter and lifelong champion of reading ❤️📚

Her love of books and learning inspired generations, and her words remind us that curiosity is something we never outgrow.

Thank you, Dolly, for filling the world with stories, music and a love of reading. You will be deeply missed.

📅 Have you marked Saturday, November 7 on your calendar yet?

You won't want to miss the inaugural Great Big Book Festival at the Downtown Huntsville Public Library! This free, all-day celebration will bring together authors, book lovers, and anyone who enjoys all things literary.

Spend the day browsing a huge selection of bookish vendors, meeting local authors, enjoying free programs, and connecting with fellow readers.

We're thrilled to welcome New York Times bestselling author Ariel Lawhon, author of "The Frozen River", as the festival's keynote speaker! Ariel will discuss her highly anticipated new novel, "The Pirate Queen", a sweeping historical adventure inspired by the legendary Irish heroine Grace O'Malley.

Our readers have checked out The Frozen River (physical copies) nearly 600 times, making Ariel one of HMCPL's most-loved historical fiction authors. We love bringing the authors you already love to Huntsville, and we can't wait to welcome her to the library!

📚 The Great Big Book Festival is free to attend. A ticket is required only for Ariel Lawhon's keynote event, and every ticket purchased benefits the Huntsville-Madison County Library Foundation, supporting programs, collections, and opportunities at YOUR library.

A special thank you to the Propst Family Foundation, the Presenting Sponsor of the inaugural Great Big Book Festival.

Thank you to everyone who came out for "Are You Smarter Than a Librarian?!" We had a blast watching teams battle it out and proving that librarians and library supporters are a pretty smart bunch!

A huge thanks to The Beer Hog - Madison for hosting us and giving us the perfect spot for an evening of friendly competition and America 250 trivia!

The room was packed with people who love libraries, including 10 HMCPL librarians who joined the competition and put their knowledge to the test. We loved seeing library supporters and library staff come together for such a fun night!

We’re so grateful for everyone who played, cheered, volunteered, and supported the Library Foundation.

Thanks for making our first "Are You Smarter Than a Librarian?!" one for the books!

Kelly Rimmer was an absolute delight! We are so grateful she stopped by the South Huntsville Public Library yesterday, all the way from Australia!

Kelly's newest novel, "The Story Keeper", was released just last week, and we had a wonderful time celebrating this beautiful new book. A special thank you to Lorie Hubsher, Assistant Branch Manager of the South Huntsville Public Library, who did a phenomenal job moderating the conversation. Thanks, Lorie!

Many readers also know Kelly from her bestselling novel "The German Wife", which is set right here in Huntsville, making her visit even more special.
