CMIT proudly presents the 2027 Gang Intelligence and Supervision Conference, located at Embassy Suites by Hilton in San Marcos, Texas from January 18-21, 2027.

The Gang Intelligence and Supervision Conference is a focused professional development event designed for corrections, law enforcement, probation, and other criminal justice professionals who address gang-related challenges in their daily work. The conference brings together practitioners and subject-matter experts to examine current and emerging gang trends, intelligence-gathering practices, supervision strategies, and intervention approaches. The Correctional Management Institute of Texas is accepting Nominations for our November 2026 session of the Jail Administration Management and Operations Training. This session will take place November 15-20, 2026 in Huntsville, TX at the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center on the Sam Houston State University campus.

The Jail Administration Management and Operations training (JAMO) focuses on professional development of Jail Administrators and Assistant Jail Administrators. The program allows participants to have current information, specific to Texas, about jail standards and practices, laws regarding inmate rights, budget management, and current jail issues.

JAMO is not a conference or seminar where by everyone and anyone that applies will attend. This program is limited to 30 participants. Staff must be nominated by their Sheriff and nomination forms and letters of support must be submitted by the deadline. This training is designed for Jail Administrators and Assistant Jail Administrators who have been in their positions for no more than two years. Nominees must be from Sheriff's Offices within the state of Texas.

Mid-Management: Leadership for Corrections Professionals is accepting Nominations for our 2026 and 2027 programs.

To assist agencies in professional development and succession planning by preparing personnel serving in mid-management to senior level positions for greater responsibility, the Correctional Management Institute of Texas offers a five-day (36-hour) Mid-Management: Leadership for Corrections Professionals class for criminal justice professionals.

This training is designed for mid-level managers to senior level leaders from Texas juvenile and adult probation departments, adult and juvenile institutions, parole, and jail staff from Texas Sheriff’s Offices.

Mid-Management: Leadership for Corrections Professionals is not a conference or seminar whereby everyone and anyone that applies will attend. This program is limited to 30 participants. Staff must be nominated by their Director/Sheriff and nomination forms and letters of support must be submitted by the program deadlines.

Registration is Now Open for the 2026 CSCD HR Forum. This year's program is being held September 16-18, 2026 at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos, TX.

The CSCD HR Forum was established in 2012 to create and provide an opportunity for CSCD Human Resources directors and staff to meet and discuss topics, challenges, and ideas relevant to management of personnel within adult probation agencies. The program also includes “The Legal Corner”, providing updates on legal topics important to HR professionals in probation agencies. Though the annual event has grown from the initial intimate group meeting and now includes attendees from other criminal justice agencies, the format of a “conversation” remains.

Congratulations to the July 2026 class of the Mid-Management: Leadership for Corrections Professionals Program!

This session was held July 27–31, 2026, at the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center on the Sam Houston State University campus in Huntsville, Texas.

CMIT would also like to thank our speakers for sharing their expertise and knowledge throughout the program. This session's speakers were Nancy Baird, L.E. Townsend, Grant Shields, Andy Riise, Mario Cotton, and Charlotte Stallings. Their contributions play a vital role in the success of this class!

The Mid-Management program is designed to equip corrections professionals with essential leadership tools and insights. Built around the latest leadership priorities and core competencies identified by the National Institute of Corrections, the program reflects extensive input from field practitioners and agency leaders to ensure its relevance and effectiveness.
